Walmart Card due date on the weekend

And they charged me a late fee!!!$24.xx ggrrr! i called them and they waved it as a courtesy! I was like courtesy my behind! I said THe due date is on the weekend and most bill pays dont pay on the weekend duuuh!!! either way they waved it!

what kind of mess is that! ugh!

That's why I always set up the auto pay for all my cards. I make sure they are paid 5-10 days before the due date.

I am kinda tired of my creditors moving due dates around-

It's bad enough they have shortened # of float days- but come on , you can keep the dues dates the same every month?

In MS money- I set all my due dates 3 days early- after a few month these dates would make me late!!!!!!!.

I have resorted to setting up the payments as soon as the billl comes in.

A few days after my billing cycle closes, I call the automated system for each account for which I have a balance and enter both the due date and amount due into the calendar in my cellphone. Once I've made my monthly payment for that account, I make a note of that, too, in my cellphone.

This routine has kept me from losing track of what's due when, especially, as you all are pointing, in light of the due dates moving around of some of these accounts.

Sorry to be Johnny Rain Cloud but.............

Who cares what day of the week your payment due date falls upon? As a best practices measure, one should always give themself a buffer zone when making their payments, i.e., make sure your payment is received by the lender at least 5 days before the due date.

I agree to pay on-time and create what ever meathod you need to do to pay on-time.

The statement above borders on BS. If it were not for EFT and internet banaking, it may be impossible to pay some creditors on-time using the mail and a paper check.

This is not just the sub-primes like Credit One Bank that do this on purpose. My AMEX Gold comes to mind.

End Date: 10/2

Statement posts: 10/3 if mailed would arrive 10/7 or 10/8

Due date is 10/17

So if sending a paper check - I would need to send it by the 14th at the latest.

So to keep your rule you would either need to either pay online well ahead of time or send a check within 48 hours of the bill arriving-

having a buffer is pretty obvious to most...but yeah, it actually got pretty tricky for Providian customers for eg. not long ago to "make sure" when Providian netted millions of dollars in finance charges by holding payments past due dates, or simply shredding them, weeee, go bye-bye! (and they would likely still be doing so if they hadn't been harshly reprimanded) it's not a fun game for the unsuspecting consumer but it has a name, it's called: 'let's see how difficult we can make it to pay on time while making a mint'.

This may sound silly to some. But i currently have 14 CC acts And 2 auto loans And i have all due dates set on the 25. (It works for me)

WTG - that was some handy work getting all dates to match! i didn't realize so

many creditors allowed their customers to set the due dates. v. cool.

Well i have to knock on wood and say that Wachovia is a great bank when it comes to bill pay. Billpay links to the credit card websites and i get emails when my payments post (before i get the paper statements in the mail). They have the due date, minimum due, and the amount owed. Wachovia notifies me via email when a bill posts. Also when you are within 5 days of your payment Wachovia changes the payment to red and says it is past due. So basically you are never late unless you do not make the payment.
