I have currentyl TWO QuickSilver One's for Average Credit, both $500 limits -- my score has since risen 80 points on all 3 bureuas since getting these cards 3 months ago. I hear all kinds of things from Cap One -- some reps say you are limited to 2 cards for Average credit, others say there is no limit (even EO stated this - but to be honest, they are not the smartest people, and seem to often have no clue about anything!) .. Forums here are unclear -- I want to app tonight for the Journey card as my score is now 640 (was 578 on earlier approval!) . . but dont want to take a HP only to get denial for having 2 cards in that category. I want to app for VentureOne or QS, but will wait until I hit 650, at least thats what I think I should do ...

Does anyone know the REAL limit on Capone cards if any?? And if they deny me for having their limit will they still HP me for that denial ? I hate this limit thing. Their chat reps just stated "No Limit on cards with us" and another said 5 was the limit. I'm LOST lol! Advice please?

I know you get sick of me saying this but as you were told by several people a few days ago I think another few months in the garden is for the best. Don't app for anything right now. Your scores having risen is exciting, yes, but remember that score isn't the only piece of the puzzle and your score is basically just a snapshot in time, whereas your report tells the whole story.

I strongly suggest waiting until 2016. The card isn't going anywhere (and in fact earns lower rewards than your QS do, technically). And remember, with Capital One it's just "a wasted HP", rather 3 wasted HPs! Good luck. Keep up the good work, but put this app on the back burner for now.

To answer your question I think you would be fine as far as "number of cards" with them, as I don't know if Journey is in the same bucket as QS1. However -- just WAIT, and then you can apply for a regular QS and avoid the issue! Just my opinion.

With regard to Venture One, btw: just don't. 1.25% for travel only vs the 1.5% cash you can get when you go for a QS.

Also, what is the rush to apply for a third Capital One card? Please wait. Thats likely the best advice any of us can offer. Take care of the cards you have now, give it some time and your scores will rise. 650 is still a fairly low score goal. Would hold off until you reach the 680 - 720 range and then assess which cards might benefit you most at that time. Possibly from a different lender.

I totally understand your desire to want to get started on your rewards for upcoming travel. Have you done their prequal? I'm not sure what your full background is, but I'd try that first. If they give you a fixed rate. then maybe you should pull the trigger. But if they give you a range, I'd garden until you get the fixed rate.

Good luck!

Can't promise I won't post about wanting to app often though lol.

It just feels so good to see my scores in mid 600 when 10 months ago I barely was at 500! I spend about $3000 - $4500 month on CC and pay down about TO 50% UTIL or less depending on disposable. I use all my cards like debit cards and PIF. I just got a big CLI of $2000 on my WESTERN FCU VISA -- that'll report in 10 days .. And has a $0 balance so I'm hoping for another score boost, as it'll lower my overall UTIL to under 40%. And now, I just paid my highest card (BARCLAY Apple VISA) from $2850 to 2000 on a $3000 CL. So we will see

That doesn't sound like PIF at all to be honest as the balances you carry and your utilization are saying otherwise. Did you mean to say that at this point you are now PIF current charges while still revolving others from before?

Yes -- sorry. Still getting accustomed to the terminology here. I run a lot of money through my QS1, pay down and do it again. I'm letting 3-4 cards report $0 this month out of 6. Then the others under 40%

Best case scenario I would advise paying down everything that has been revolving a balance for a while starting with highest interest of course. See where it gets you and then try your best to reconcile some of those negatives holding you down. 700 is not an option until most of that is resolved.

Of course life happens to where we can't always PIF, but the point is that worrying about rewards of 1-2% is unecessary if one is paying 18% interest.

Focus on getting rid of all of your balances completely before worrying about applying for anything (and you should garden anyway like I said earlier). You will qualify for much better cards with time and with lower utilization. To be totally honest, this sounds like an overspending issue, which more cards will not help!
