Paying Rent - Plastiq - Amex

So has anyone used Plastiq without a headache successfully on this forum? I decided to finish off the spend for my 100k Amex promo today so I decided to pay rent in the sum of $1500 (37.50$ fee). The fee is fine as this frees me up for other things and well worth the 100k MR's. So if this works, I have met the minimum spend in under a month. I know some of you do it with one charge, but don't have any big charges out there I needed..

My question is who has used this and who has had a headache or a good success story with it? The reason I worry is I probably should of done a smaller $50 test charge to see if it would get processed fine, but went for the gusto for $1500, which isn't really a small chunk of change. I sent it to a PERSON, not a business or LLC or whatever. The person is my landlord and I sent it to the same address as I live, just a different persons name as he stays there only on the weekend and uses this address as his primary mailing address. Used the drop-down as Rent/Mortgage and issued a physical check vs. ACH. Think this will go through or any issues ahead of me being I will need to provide them with an invoice or lease agreement? I can provide them with either, what I am afraid of is them putting a hold on the payment until they investigate this charge although it went through and is in pending status with Amex just fine currently. I heard it can take anywhere from 7 day - 30 days for them to process this payment. The site once submitted the payment said it will be there anywhere form the 30th to the 2nd. After reading more on other sites after I made this payment to an INDIVIDUAL alot of times this gets flagged and either you need to provide info as stated above or they cancel the payment all together. Just wondering if I am going to be out of pocket $1500 for awhile or if it should go through smoothly? Anyone here have experience with this scenario? Thanks in advance!

I used it three times to pay mortgage. Took about 10-12 days from the time I submitted payment until my mortgage company posted the payment. I know others, from reading FT, that had delay problems but I think they have worked out the problems that were causing the delays. I wouldn't hesitate to use it to meet spend.

Did you do an ACH or physical check? The only reason I am at all worried is cause it it to an indivdual/person and that is what seems to raise a flag with them, but as stated I can provide the rental agreement which actually show $2500/mo vs. $1500, but doesn't mean you have to pay all 2500 using Plastiq.. I hope they have worked out the kinks by now as I did alot of reading and already made the payment. After doing the payment is when I started to do more research and read some horror stories, hopefully most of this mess has been fixed by now! Thanks for ringing in Irish. As stated I am showing two charges on Amex right now one for $1500 and another for the $37.50. Why they break them up I have no clue, but Amex had no issue with accepting them into pending status which will be approved as long as Plastiq plays nicely, which you think they would since they are making their 2.5% fee.. BTW: flyertalk is where I read most of this nightmare after the fact of payment sent. Just a bit worried now, but you make me feel a bit better

They sent a check. The two separate charges was done on my Citi card that I used as they break up the fees from the main payment. My suggestion would be to email them and offer to send them the agreement to avoid any issues

Thank Irish, good information.. Should I have the person/landlord do a one time invoice or send my lease agreement stating his name / rent amount although rent amount on lease is more than I sent to him just now? I have no problem doing either.. Any thoughts? I might shoot them an email now.. Just wondering what email to use if I should use the CEO's or the normal support one or both lol to make sure it goes through smooth as a hot knife through butter.

I think the lease agreement would be more than enough. A one time invoice really doesn't address their concerns about sending money to individuals as that could easily be faked. Send it to the woman that posted in the FT thread

Ya email sent.. Rather be pro-active than reactive to make sure my landlord/friend gets the payment on time.. This way they don't have any excuses as I am offering them anything they want/need so no excuses can be made why it might not of been paid or time or what not. Not saying this is the case, but rather put it in their court rather than them blaming me for a possible delay.

And the fun begins.. Didn't take long lol to get flagged.. I just sent them the lease agreement after getting the below email. Really why do they have to make this so hard, do they not want to remain in business? I knew this was coming, but this is just silly as I was pro-active and got a response earlier saying they didn't need anything at the moment and sure enough recieved this email not to long ago.. So ya it is a pain to deal with them, I can't imagine them being around to long if they do this to most people. Will be very upset if they hold this more than a day or two, we shall see.. As stated I expected this after reading other peoples nightmares with few initial successes.

Should a person be paying their mortgage with Plastiq? Guess it would be appropriate if hitting min spend was urgent and worth the surcharge. I have done that with property taxes (paid a charge to hit the bonus)

Just wanted to get it over with for small fee for the 100k mr's. Sure you can pay lease/rent/mortgage with it.. They just like companies more than individuals.. I have the lease in writting and sent it to them so hopefully they don't think I am having him cash this and then putting it into my bank account to meet spend bonus.. Granted I would of met the spend easily in time for the 100k mr's for the platinum, just wanted it out of the way the first month i had the card for a small fee as the bonus is HUGE... then go back to my normal cards for eating out such as CSP, etc..

Update - Resolved issue - Payment accepted and check is being mailed.

Well that went smoother than I thought after providing them with the lease agreement.. They released the hold and hopefully the funds will be mailed to my landlord tomorrow and hopefully I don't have an issue if I choose to use this service in the future to pay rent if I ever need to meet spend bonus... Most recent reply once I provided documentation.. So spend has been met in less than a month.. Can't wait to see those 100k MR's in my account when statement cuts .

2-3.5 cpp(possibly more?) for flights.. So basically 2k-3500 in Airfare travel.. Worth the small 37.50$ fee to me ..

Although alot of other benefits with the card, although they could be better.. This has nothing to do with meeting spend bonus though. It won't be a daily spender card by any means for me now that I met the bonus.

Nah did a bit of research on FT about this; they are just a PITA to deal with overall.. I did my research.

It is all fixed now and funds are released and the check should be sent out tomorrow. So all is good

I'm in the process of using them now to pay my mortgage. Which is around $1500. The fee was $23 using MasterCard. I received a email today stating the check was mailed. I did the transaction last Thursday. Hopefully it will go well. Never used them before. I'm meeting my spends by just paying monthly bills. I went ahead and paid the electric bill 3 months ahead as well. I plan to get my bonuses! Lol

I used it successfully last month. Took 5-6 days for confirmation that payment was sent to mortgage company. Ended up working out well i guess. Nice to have options.
