      <title>On the fence about Cabela's...Keep or Close?</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;ok...so for those that remember my post last week, my Cabela's Visa had fraud after only having it 3 1/2 months. &amp;nbsp;I was pissed! It was first time Ive ever had CC fraud happen to me too. When I noticed it, and called in, after being transferred 3 times, after my initial wait hold of 36 minutes to get someone, the supervisor lady in fraud treated me horribly. She was rude, condesending, and very accousatory that it was me who did the charges.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I had never been treated like that in my life by any CSR, and I dont tolerate it for it a second, and unleashed my rath on her. She'll be lucky to have a job after their corporate gets my letter on how the whole thing was handled. I also demanded a different supervisor call me back THAT day, because I was not going to talk to that b**ch any longer. Never heard from anyone for 3 days, so I called in to cancel my card.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Got a CSR who immediately transferred me to a very nice male supervisor, who asked me to please explain to him from the beginning what happened, so he could figure this out. &amp;nbsp;I could tell he was genuinely trying to help me. (at this point, none of the fraud had been reversed). I explained everything to him, and he was very apologetic and said that he himself would take care of it, and gave me the hours/days he works plus his direct line to his office, and told me he personally would call me back on Monday, because he was out of the office friday. &amp;nbsp;Also apologized for the way I was treated by the lady supervisor, and that he would be in contact with HER super as well. The next morning when I checked my online acct, the charges had been reversed by the other supervisor. He definitely calmed me down by the end of the conversation, so kudo's to him.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;So, a long story short, I didnt close the card after the end of the conversation with him, BUT...im still a little on the fence about this card....&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;1). Their website is LAME!! &amp;nbsp;You cant see pending charges at all..only posted.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;2). The way they handled my fraud and phone call the first time was BAD!! Left a bad taste in my mouth about the company and keeping their card.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;3). The $1k cl isnt worth it for me to feel this way, and Im NOT willing to take HP after 6 mo to get an CLI. Im gardening. So, this CL will stay at $1k until 2 yrs from now, or I get an auto.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Basically, I could close this card, and not care at all....soooooo, Keep or close??&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;No point in really agonizing over it. If you aren't happy with it just close it. The impact to your util will be neglible and you obviously don't get much use out of it if you want to close it. So just close it and move on.       <description>Pizza sorry to hear about how they treated you initially. It reminds me of how a dispute was handled on my Diners Club card. Ultimately it was resolved by a Supervisor, but I've always felt how companies handle fraud is telling in and of itself. I decided to keep the card, but can also see wanting to close it and be done with the relationship.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;However, if it were me I would keep it open. They're generally known for decent CLI after 9 months or so. At $1k there's nowhere to go but up &lt;img id="smileyhappy" class="emoticon emoticon-smileyhappy" src="https://ficoforums.myfico.com/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif" alt="Smiley Happy" title="Smiley Happy" /&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I think it's great that you got hold of a Supervisor who did finally work things out for you pizza. Of course it's your call with that SL whether or not to ditch or keep but you know what's best for your own matters on that.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I was lucky enough to fish out&amp;nbsp;your other post late last night and frankly i got a little worried myself because their website wouldn't even allow me to ENROLL my Visa card. When i called the first time (This Morning at 11AM)&amp;nbsp;i was left on hold indefinitely.&amp;nbsp;Grrrrr. Things like&amp;nbsp;can be&amp;nbsp;irritating to anyone.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;When i called back it picked up&amp;nbsp;and&amp;nbsp;i almost immediately got hold of a really nice&amp;nbsp;Supervisor who i expressed my grievance to and they took care of it finally. It was kind of&amp;nbsp;the difference between night &amp;amp; day. Before i could never get ahold of anyone and seemed like always left on hold. This time when i did get someone they actually stayed on the phone with me while i went thru everything&amp;nbsp;and was finally&amp;nbsp;able to access my Cabelas account. They even had me to log out and back in again just to be sure. I do believe that Supervisor is answering CSR calls because he was the first one i got and then stayed on the line while online services guided things thru.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I think the website could use an update most definitely.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Sure hope your fraud issue was only a one time thing because it's totally unnerving to go thru something like that especially when you can't find the help needed at the time you really need it, in this instance, your account compromised.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

The $1k limit wasnt even the big deal for me, considering I probably shouldnt have been approved in the first place with my profile. But thats besides the point here..lol...I think with everything that happened, the limit for having the card wasnt worth it. Since Im gardening till late summer of 2017, I can only hope for for an auto on this acct over the next 2 yrs. My card will be "6mo" end of November. Got it end of May. Would be nice to see an auto in the next year, but I know its not a guarantee.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

LONG HOLD TIMES, and LAME WEBISTE... &amp;nbsp;The first time I noticed something weird with my "available credit", was off by a few hundred, I called in and was on hold for 47 min!!! &amp;nbsp;I gave up and hung up. &amp;nbsp;Checked my acct the next morning like always do again, and thats when I noticed the charges!! &amp;nbsp;Thats why my available credit was "off". When I called in...waited 36 min for the initial call to get someone, another 12min to get to fraud, and another 17 min to get a supervisor which was horrible to me.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thats totally unacceptable for a CCC to have wait times that long. When I mentioned it to the nice male super I got, he told me he knows thats a probelm with the company and they are trying hard to rectify that. &amp;nbsp;They use to have 300 callers on hold at one time, now the are down to roughly 150 callers on hold at any given time waiting to talk to someone. .. The fact alone that I cant see pending charges is frustrating to me....&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>If the relationship isn't making you happy anymore just end it.........&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You have great cards and have rebuilt nicely. Honestly, you probably don't need that CL right now, no guarantee it will grow, do you want future lenders to see such a low limit? Even if you shop there, are you spending enough to justify the rewards or do you have another card (or two) that will give you just as good or better benefits?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Personally after hearing your story, I would close the card after their investigation is complete. I wouldn't trust their customer service to get any better.</description>

Maybe if your profile is complete enough for you it's A-OK if you pull a SCT here and there with 5-$700&amp;nbsp;but IMHO as long as you are still in building or rebuilding it can help if you&amp;nbsp;can raise those overall averages.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I closed 2 such low limit cards, Good Sams Visa some months ago&amp;nbsp;days after approval &amp;amp; most recently BP Visa at 4 months (even after recent CLI) due to that plus outrageous APR Rates which is exactly what i will explain if or when asked by a future&amp;nbsp;Credit Analyst. Plus i believe it also helps in some automated application processes but have no real stats to back that up. I mean, the second supervisor bent over backwards for me, but the initial handling of the fraud and my phone call was just unacceptable. As i was checking my other major CC accts online this morning like I do twice a day (am/pm) to make sure everything is kosher, and no pending charges I dont recognize, I kept thinking "this is so nice that I can actually see my "pending" charges". Cabela's doesnt have that on there webiste, which is so weird and not customer friendly at all.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I dont plan on applying for credit anytime soon, Im in the garden till 2017, so who cares if anyone sees that limit right now in an AR. But...if I decide to keep it, and I havent received any auto's by one yr anniversary of having the card, Ill probably yank it out of my lineup.
