Walmart MC Upgrade Question

Quick question everyone...if you know...have been upgraded to Wally MC (Letter says will upgrade around mid October)...will my current Wally store cl be my new Wally MC cl?. Have received so many different responses. Thanks so so much in advance.

The MC will replace the Wally World card. You might be getting an increase with the conversion, you can call them and ask. When it was Discover, I did exactly that. I didn't take the conversion, but I took the CLI! I didn't take the conversion because it would have been reported as a new starting date and the Wally World card would have been reported as closed. (Goodness, I wish they would change that!)

You would think that tne open date would not change since, in reality, it is the same account just upgraded (like amex)...Dont understand synchrony...but i digress...don't really care if they give me the cli or the aaoa hit..i just dont want to go through the hit AND not get my wally limit (10K)...I would be VERY VERY angry. When I call wally they r like well...we don't know what your limit will be yet. But i am like if you are importing my account info from one card to another (per the letter i received), and if my wally store card info is balance=500 and cl=10K, then wouldn't my MC have a balance of 500 and a cl of 10K.(that is what an import is...right?)

I do not want to accept this card blindly. I am content with the Wally store card with 10K. Neither need, nor want, a Wally MC with a cl of 1500

I had them upgrade me several years ago when it was still Discover. My credit limit increase substantially ($500-$2500 IIRC), and the old card was closed.

Unless it specifically stated you will be receiving a CLI, then I think it's safe to assume your CL will remain the same. I would contact CS if you have questions or concerns about your CL. Good luck!!

Gregg,

If you aren't getting a finite response from CS and you don't need the upgrade, then keep your account as is. For me, the only difference I see with the MC is after you spend a certain dollar amount, you earn a $5 credit.

Maybe you should compare the benefits yourself and then make a decision. Good luck!

Unfortunately, it's truly YMMV. Lower store card CLs tend to see a CLI with the upgrade, whereas higher CLs tend to stay the same (and even decrease in a few cases).

Card since Nov of last year. Started with a limit of 150. Now 10K. Have put less than 500 through the card..TU is 773.

It isn't very likely that they would lower the limit. As stated by another before, they actual tend to raise limits when this happens. If a normal CSR can't handle the question or give the answer, then maybe speak with a supervisor.

That's a new development, if true. AFAIK, Synchrony upgrades from PLCC to bankcards create a new TL, account number, and open date. Keep an eye on those CRs, everyone!

And perhaps those CSRs or managers may not be as well-informed either, which has been the case in several instances. From reading some recent Walmart MC upgrades the open date of the orginal card was not preserved. So, the MC basically became new TL and the store card closed.

Something to consider OP since the only way you'll know for sure as far as your AAoA (absent from these forums or any CSRs) is your actual CRs - should you decide to take the upgrade. Also, no guarantees on what CL you would receive. Of course, if you decide to go through with the upgrade, you can always check and see if they can raise it.
