Who's getting CLD's and by what bank?

CL of $12,000.00 Reduced in July to $8,500, reduced yesterday to $7,700.00 The seem to rewduce the lime about $400.00 above my balance. This is Fidelity (FIA-Bank of America). Never late, never missed a payment, never overlimit, go figure. I could not get a decent answer by calling them. Shredded the card and sent it back this morning. I'm expecting BofA to follow because this is what happened the last time. Same situation. So far, no movement on BofA.

BOA has reduced CLs after about 6 months of slow pay (taking to long to reduce bal). What was your cedit score time if CLD? Did you just make a large payoff on another CC or BOA prior to the CLD?

I've been lucky so far. I have four cards that each have between a $20K and $25K limit, so I have been anticipating some decreases. I usually don't carry a balance on these of more than a couple of hundred dollars, so I am not sure if that comes into play.

I think if a customer has a lot of debt, they will reduce the credit limits. A friend of mine had this experience. She was never late on any credit cards but has a mountain of debt. A credit union closed her gold and platinum cards and AMEX capped her platinum card soley because of her overall debt. They ran her credit to see how much debt she had.

Although I have very good scores and very clean reports, I expect all of my creditors to CLD me at some point. I have far too much available credit for them not to. When it happens, I don't know.

Amex strikes again. 2 more CLD's from people I know. CLD's were about a 60% chop. The people said nothing changed to trigger the CLD. Credit was good.

Even with stellar credit scores and clean reports, I still think CCCs will CLD many of us. Banks no longer feel comfortable with anyone having a lot of unsecured available credit, even if they hardly use it.

Banks must move money to stay in business. It doesn't do them any good to systematically reduce everybodys lines of credit.

CLD on AmEx Clear, AmEx Blue, and AmEx Gold (yep, my no-limit card now has a limit). My co-worker just told me she got a CLD on her AmEx Blue yesterday.

Funny thing is, I got a CLI from CapitalOne and WaMu (now Chase) last week.

None of my creditors have reduced any of my limits yet and frankly, I don't care if they do, seeing as there isn't anything I could do about it. I closed that Discover card last night because I was sick of them calling my house after 8 p.m. trying to pitch their other products to me! This, after me telling them 3 times previously to take me off their darned call list. I, as a consumer, don't need a company that ingnores my requests. Besides, I should never have never accepted the offer. It was my lowest credit line @ 3k.

I'm taking a new approach to this whole thing. After getting on these forums, I worried about raising my FICO scores until I was making myself crazy! They've always been mid-70's, fluctuate up and down but I've never been denied for anything and gotten good rates since I cleaned my act up years ago. I was acting silly worrying about this stuff so now, I'm just gonna let it ride and continue paying on time/more than minimum/in full, whatever. I've got enough things to worry about. No need to add more.

So, I said ALL that to say: If they decrease some of the limits on any of my cards, I just don't care. I've got 11 majors and all have high limits with low or no balances.

Yup, got my CLD e-mail today for my AMEX gold. Haven't used it in 2 months only a 1k limit. Used it yesterday for small purchase and BAM got my email today. Just waiting to see what will happen with my Blue and my starwood. I'm gonna pif and close them if they CLD me on any of the other two. I'm tired of the drama.

When you say "gold", do you mean the Delta SkyMiles Gold? I suppose that usually gets called "Delta" around here. I have the Gold charge card, which does not have a published balance, although sometimes they let it slip.

They do CLD's on their charge cards, too, as happened to Timothy.

My wife just received a letter from CITI informing her that her CL has been decreased from $8,750 to $5,000 on her CITI Sears MC.
