Sams Club Credit CLI!

Sam's finally approved my CLI request. I've been stuck at $500 for over a year. Now it's $800. The strange thing is, they denied my two weeks ago.

They gave me an auto-CLI of $1000 after 3 weeks from $4200 to $5200. I was pleasantly surprised!

I was stuck at 300 for two years!!! I have been with them for 4 years now and I am only at 1300. My score is over 700 and still no luck geting a decent increase with these guys. Any suggestions?

Honestly, my suggestion is ... If you have a Costco's near you .. cancel the Sam Club's and go apply for the True Earnings American Express Card.

If you shop frequently at Sam's then I assume you would at Costco's and if your credit score is in the 700's then you should get a decent credit line.

If you don't have a Costco's then you might be stuck !

GEMB won't increase my limit above $4,000. I was told that if I converted from the Sam's "store card" to a Sam's Discover card. I could get higher limits. Is your credit card by any chance a Sam's Discover card?

Beware of the AMEX Costco App... 10 days ago I was denied with a 739 EX FICO and a clean report... They likely would have CLD'ed me if I was approved so I just blew a Inq... Could have had a headache...

I would NEVER do business with AMEX, not with their track record of F/R's and CLD's without warning. I do shop at Costco frequently, but pay the old fashioned way, CASH! The only way I would ever consider getting an AMEX card is through my bank, "Bank of America". They are a stable lender that actually takes care of it's customers.

Yes. Mine is a cobranded Discover card.

The explanation I got was that: Traditionally "store credit cards" have lower credit limits than Visa, Mastercard, Discover et all. GEMB said that it doesn't issue credit limits (much) higher than mine for Sam's credit cards unless it is a Discover network card.

It seems that higher credit limits are available at Sam's only if one applies for or converts to the Discover card.

The conversion is supposed to be easy. No hard inquiry and original credit card issue date is maintained. No credit score hit....just a higher credit limit.
