Upgrading Basic Capital One Card

Hello Everyone quick question. I have been rebuilding my credit over the last few years and all is has been good. I have three basic credit cards from capital one and they are all the regular platinum cards. DOes anyone know if Cap one if i call them and based off my credit scores if they will update my current cards to a ventura or quicksilver card without me having to close my current cap one card and re-apply for those specific cards.

Using online chat, I PC'd my Platinum to the QS MC with no AF.

Try online chat IMO. See your options. They will SP you!

My experience with them has been that you can do a Pc from a platinum MC to a QS.

I updated my regular old Capital One Platinum MasterCard which I got in 2003, in 2015 to a QuickSilver World MC, same terms, same age, no AF... The new card is plain as dirt, but it's a better set of terms

Update was done using chat, easy cheezy.

I just talked with chat today and got this same thing. So now I have two QS1 MC's. One with the $39 AF, the other with no AF.

I PC'd my journey visa to a Quicksilver Visa after only two months on the phone. Startling limit was $2000. I had an increase two months later to $4000

Just pc'd moms platinum $300cl to a QS1 on chat today! $19 annual fee. Shes was happy. She has had 3statements. Good luck

Just wanted to thank everyone for the responses and you all were right. Got one of my cards upgraded to quicksilver card. They told me as my scores go up to check periodically and maybe one can be upgraded to a venture card. Once again thanks everyone.

HP = Hard Pull (inquiry)

SP = Soft Pull 9 (No inquiry)

Many members have had success with a PC (product change) for Cap One cards. I had a Cap One Platinum (formerly a Household Bank rebuilder card). I was able to PC to the QS1 to get the 1.5% cash back rewards. I've since been able to PC that to the regular QS with no AF.

Call or chat first to see if you can PC. If they don't have any options for you, you may have success reaching out to the EO for help.

IIRC, it was within a few months of the QS1 PC.

JMR thanks still learning about the acronyms here but it was a soft inquiry i asked specific that my credit not be pulled and they assured me and i actually checked credit report. to verify.

HEy Sunrise what is reaching out to the EO and i have three cards with Capital one and of the three one was converted to QSMC and when i requested one of the others to convert to Venture card they said hold on then came back and said that right now NO PROMOTION for me to upgrade my other card and to keep checking back. This was done over online chat not over the phone. I also asked if my third MC could be converted to the Capital one BYNOW mastercard but was told you have flat out apply for that one which i thought was kind of strange.

The EO is the Executive Office. You reach them by emailing the Cap One CEO. You will need to Google "Capital One CEO email"; due to our Forum TOS, we cannot post his email address here.

I'm not familiar with a "BYNOW" Mastercard from CapOne. If that's a cobranded card, you probably won't be able to PC to that card.

HEy Sunrise the Capital one buypower card is the GMC Mastercard a percentage of your purchases goes towards buying a GMC, Cheverolet and a few other vehicals. Thanks for the info i will look up CEO and send an email

Hey Sunrise i followed your suggestion and sent email to EO they called me yesterday very nice and said they would do what they can. Told me they would call me back in 5-7 business day for the results. Basically i asked if one of my regular CAP1 cards could be changed to a NO AF venture card.

Random thought, there's threads on Cap1 combining limits. I wonder if that's a viable option in 6 months. In 6 months, combine 2 of your cards, closing one, then you have "room" for a new third card like Venture.

Ive learnt that PC a card sets a 6 month clock until further manipulation, combining, PC or CLI can be done.

Edit: IMO it was a good idea to at least PC one to a rewards card.
