Anyone Applied for Chase Freedom w/ Five New Accounts?

[This thread is seeking factual information not advices. If you had applied for the Chase Freedom with 5 or more new accounts opened during the last 24 months, simply state if you were approved or declined.]

Just curious if anyone took the gamble and have been approved for the Chase Freedom although it is known that applicants with 5 new revolving accounts in the last 24 months, regardless of credit score, will be rejected.

YES , I have and was Approved for a Chase Freedom Card plus Applied for 3 Co-Branded Cards . within 60 Days . BINGO !!!

They are really firm with this new rule. Particualrly on chase cards. ( freedom card, Sapphire, slate.) But when its Co branded cards seems hte new rule doesnt apply to this.

You're just starting off, more or less. I'd be happy with the Double Cash and leave well enough alone.

But yes, Chase is pretty strict about the policy anyway.

Please clarify:

Did you have 5 or more new credit cards applied for and opened during the 24 months preceding your app for the Freedom?

My finger twitchy...but my resistence to temptation is strong. Just investigating if there is a work around Chase lol.

I would have not created this thread if I had less than 5 new accounts.

I'm reading on applicants who were rejected for Chase Freedom; some of them are baffling, but the FICO thread dates back to 2010, but it's still a good read.

Do you have a Discover? If you're talking about Freedom as a standalone 5% card without a CSP, generally Discover's categories are broader and better (just my opinion). So if you were going to app for something, I'd go for Discover...but honestly, you need to just garden IMO and build up slowly.

Do you have a Discover?

I qualified for the Discover it and American Express Blue Everyday Cash Last week. I'm just twitchy because I'm on a roll and just curious about investigating if there is a work around (I doubt it but it's fun anyhow). I'm just reading all the people who have complained about being rejected from Chase and the possible reasons why they were rejected and how many of them were able to get an approval after reconsideration.

People get approved after recon all the time, but not if they have more than 5 new accounts in 2 years!

Keep in mind the "5 accounts" policy is fairly new so most of the recon stories you read aren't including it.

Chase has been good but I can't get on with Discover I've been turn down twice . My Credit is only 1 year old this week with lots of new accts . total MC & visa's = $210000

Personally, I let sleeping dogs lie. Although pre-approved for all the Chase core cards, I have a 6 month car loan, a LOC, two bank cards and two store cards in the last 2 years. Close enough to roll the dice, but Chase is sleeping. Waiting till December.
