Uh oh.....that's something I would be pissed about if they gave you the impression that you were getting the Venture.

1.25x on ~~miles~~ travel purchases (VentureOne) vs straight up, flat 1.5% cash back on all purchases (Quicksilver).

never understood why anyone would want to PC to Venture or V1. Ya miss the bonus, and the rewards rate is superior on the quicksilver for most people.

Agree with missing the bonus. But what's wrong about wanting 2x for miles (Venture)? Someone in another thread said you could get 2x on purchase eraser as well.

Basically u wouldn't pc to venture because the sign up is lucrative and you wouldn't pc qs to venture1 because it's not less value than u had before.

Exactly....and you would need to spend a fair amount to offset the $59 AF to make the 2% more advantageous than the 0 AF QS's 1.5%!

I want to say "congrats" like everyone else, but you didn't get what you were told... I wouldn't be too pleased about that if it were me.

Here's a thought... give them a call, and see if there's anything they can do to 'sweeten' the deal for you, since most likely they won't allow you to just switch right back. They should be able to throw some "miles" your way, if nothing else... especially since you didn't get a new account bonus for the PC.

The CSR that did the PC should have known that most likely there was a communication issue, since not many people call to request a card that provides a lower rewards rate than the one they already have.

Please let us know what they say!

I would definitely call to have this PC reversed as soon as possible. Although this shouldn't impact your ability to obtain Venture and VentureOne cards (and their respective bonuses) in the future, I still believe this was not an advantageous conversion. The QS is a better card than the VentureOne (and arguably Venture as well depending on a few factors), especially when the sign up bonuses are removed from the equation, as in the instance of a PC. Careful planning and redeeming can make the QS a much better "travel card" than the VentureOne. 1.5% cash back vs 1.25x 'miles'... Both also have no foreign transaction fees as well.
