Anyone have NFCU, Penfed, NASA, and a fourth CU?

I have RBFCU, Pendfed, and NFCU... not sure NASA would approve me at this point. But curious if anyone has the 3 biggie CUs and a fourth local in their portfolio.

Hi op, I got nfcu, Nasa Fcu, Penfed cu and my home town credit union which is Big island Fcu. Why not apply for Nasa Fcu they are great!! .GL

Hello. Credit unions are great. Here, in D.C., they come in all sorts. Every government entity here has its own credit union and most have open membership to the public. The key is to look at the bank's deposits and membership, which are the key indicators of the credit union's overall healthiness. This also tends to tell you the kind of products they will offer. More prestigious credit unions here offer credit card products on par with the prime lenders. I have Penfed, Library of Congress, and United Nations credit unions. I'm currently gardening so I can app at the NASA, U.S. Senate, Congressional, Andrews, and Department of Veterans Affairs credit unions, with the Senate and Congressional being my top priorities. I terminated my relationships with the State Department FCU and Justice Department FCU.

Member of the following:

Logix, Langley, Penfed, DCU, and recently closed Alliant. Pretty much rate them equally with the exception of DCU...they have earned that special place of "you have been approved", just to be taken back a total of 4 times now. I give..DCU won.

Logix has been exceptional on ease of money transfers from outside bank, fast postings and low interest credit card.

Langley and Penfed I have had only had a few months, so a wait and see.

I'm not sure I would consider NASA to be one of the biggies, lol. I'm not sure they even rank in the top 100 by membership.

I have credit at Penfed, DCU, NASA, SDFCU, Justice FCU and American Airlines FCU.

I have accounts at a few others including Alliant.

Closed normal bank account. Down to 3. NFCU, PenFed and USAA. Might get a fourth.

Do people need membership to so many cu? Although I have Nfcu and penfed, I had initially applied thinking it would have similar products as USAA which although not cu is what I wanted. Then one day looking for Amex product I found penfed and accidently applied for their amex cc and was approved. Was really surprised as they are considered to be strict lender.

So why do people open so many cu accounts? Do you guys use the savings/ checking accounts? Or just keep minimum money to get their cc products?

I honestly want to use NFCU / PenFed when I app for a mortgage in few years from now.

As a divorcee and a conspiracy theorist, NOT having all my eggs in one basket is beneficial. Also diversifying my funds into some Ninja secret society account that only few know the password helps me sleep at night.
