Ritz offer

There is a Ritz offer out there and I don't recall seeing it posted here so I thought I would mention it. Its two free nights (cat 1-4) for 3k spend. AF is not waived. I'm in the garden at the moment and I do want to pick up the ritz but I am hoping for the 140k offer to come back.

Hoping for the 140k offer to come back then apply ... Hoping end of November like last year it will resurface as I want the card and I need another spend to meet as I currently don't have one and have wanted to card for quite some time. Been a good boy lately and got most of my badies removed or at least the ones under my control and scores have never been higher and alot of my newer acounts are reaching a year starting last month through dec.

I'm hoping for Jan so I can stay in the garden and I will have 4 inqs go over a year at that point.

2 free nights is a great offer. It alternates between 1 and 2 nights. 2 nights in a T4 is easily a thousand bucks.

You hush now.. You know how my dreams were shattered Nov of last year .. I will obtain this card this year HOPEFULLY with the 140k offer, if not then will settle for the 2 night offer.. Took alot of hard work to get my credit in the best shape it can be in currently to hopefully give them no more excuses for denials other than the two many inquiry's/new accounts.. Although I know better than to call on the 2 week message now as well! .. I will prevail soon or at least I hope.. If I can't get it with all my scores at 705+ I give up! Granted these still aren't great, but as good as they are going to get for the next few years..Lets all pray for an approval for me. This card has been my nemesis and has eluded me.

True but I was hoping to use free nights in Tokyo and that requires cat 5. I guess I could use them in Kyoto, but I'm not coming out of the garden for this.

Can use the marriott free night cert for one night there. Idk if you have marriott card or not, but for 5 nights at a cat5 you're looking at 75k points, 1 cat5 cert, and 5th night free. or 100k points for 5 nights (since year 1 marriott cert is cat1-4)

Cat 5 for ritz is way different than cat 5 for marriott. For ritz a cat 5 usually costs at least 70k per night and can go up much much higher depending on how busy it is.

140k is a better offer given the flexibility of points over certs.

MR is also introducing cash & points shortly, so that will be a new way to stretch points compared to previously.

True. If you're willing to wait and see, I'd wait for 140k. If you dont want to take the risk as to whether or not it will be back, then this is probably the next best offer.

Slightly off topic but I did see that this was one of the new MR features...but I've always been able to use this. I've used it several times on past redemptions..is it really new?! To be fair I do believe I used it in Europe..

Different cash and points. Right now cash and points means like ....i wanna stay 5 nights, i only have points for 3, so I pay cash for 2.

Cash and points (upcoming) will be like every other hotel program. Say a hotel night is 50,000 points, or $500. It might only be 30,000 points and $100 with cash and points. Just random numbers, but that is how the system will be.

I thought I had the option to do cash and points when I was a plat elite. I never did it, but I thought I read that was a perk. I could be totally off on that though.

Nope. cash and points is for anyone with a marriott account.

Ah interesting. Thanks for clearing that up; so the new cash+points can also be a blend of either for a single night...not just each separate night per stay. I can see that being useful!
