Freedom auto APR decrease

I just checked this month's chase freedom statement and found this message: "IMPORTANT NOTICE: Your APR(s) were lowered" from 19.24 to 15.24. I'm totally geeked even though I haven't carried a balance on this card for about a year (I typically PIF). In May I took a hard pull for a CLI from $4400 to $10,000 but they refused to lower the APR at that time. Had to share my small win.

Need proof please.. This is not really known to be chase, sure you weren't getting phished!

In all seriousness congrats, but Chase isn't known to lower APR for really well anyone. You are one of the lucky ones!

Sounds about right, I took a hard pull to go from 1500$ to 4100$ then they gave me a random apr reduction 3 months later, finally they game me an auto increase to 9000$

Thank god or whatever I didn't apply for Chase Freedom; since I don't have a long credit history I don't get the low end of the bargain. Hopefully, that will change when I apply for Chase Freedom on 10/12/2017.

So, where is the proof?

LOL. You aren't the only one who was skeptical. I read through the statement twice to make sure there wasn't a caveat somewhere. But sure enough there it was.

Was there a change in your scores from the time you originally apped for the Freedom, and the day that they took the HP?

It's exciting news but nothing of pratical use (for me) unless I planned to carry a balance. I have a number one rule. Always have the cash to cover it in case I lose my job or become ill or disabled.

I don't have credit cards because it is a need or I need to borrow money. I have it simply for the cash back rewards and cash sign up bonuses. I'll take the freebies, thank you.

I've had the Freedom for almost a decade. When the banking industry crashed back in 09, Chase, AMEX and BOA reduced my limits even though I had no adverse payment history. About 2 years ago I went from mid 700s to 620 because of a few hiccups (some student loan lates and a small medical collection). since last fall I raised my score by 100 points. This summer my util dropped from 18% to 8%.

I can only hope that this means chase will become a bit less rigid with APRs. Currently they are very non-budging about it

This gives me so much hope. Maybe one day my first cards will have a decent APR, and I'll be able to keep them as I get older!
