EMV chip at Walmart

I tried to use my Citi card with a chip and the system declined my card twice before it went thru. Has anyone else had this issue? I tried with my Chase card and the same thing happened.

I have this problem every time I try to use a chip card at Walmart. The cashier told me their computers are just very old and crappy.

I've used my cards 3x in the past month at Walmart and didn't have any problems.

Had that to happen once while using the register in electronics. The Associate had to reboot their system and it worked after that.

There isn't a Walmart near me so I don't go often but when I have in the past it has worked normally.

Chip credit cards worked fine for me at Walmart every time I've gone (other than having it take forever). I've tried chipped debit cards a few times out of curiosity and their computers did not like them at all.

All of my credit cards have chips and have used most of them at WM and have never encountered any issues at all for months. My local WM installed and activated chip readers in Feb of this year, before any of my cards were converted to chipped version.

Hmm. Didn't know they made chipped debit cards. Thought it was just a CC thing.

I watched a guy in front of me this past weekend have this problem. It took them 15 minutes to sort it out. However, I used my WalMart MC without an issue!

I've probably used my EMV BoA Rewards card 50+ times this year at various Wal-Marts and have never had an issue.
