Amex Delta Gold CL and 3x CLI dilemma

Hi folks,

A week ago I applied for an Amex Delta Gold and was approved for $10,000. I recieved my card yesterday along with a letter from Amex telling me that a portion of my BCP CL was transfered to this new Delta Gold card.

Thanks to these threads, I am aware of the Amex 3x CLI tip and used it on my BCP card to get my original CL increased to $10,600.

Since the letter, my current CL for both these cards are:

BCP - $6,600

Delta Gold - $10,000

I would like to use the 3x CLI on the 61st day, but since a portion of the credit limit from my BCP was transfered to the new card, I am unsure if this CLI tip still applies. The highest CL I currently have is for Delta Gold.

Can anybody offer some advice?

You did not request this CL move, and so the clock runs from the last time you did a CLI Request.

The clock does not run directly 61 days from this Delta card app, because you had another AMEX which had a CLI request in the past.

Your clock is 181 days from the last CLI you did, on the BCP. If you did the BCP more than 181 days earlier counting from today, you could request another CLI on the Delta card today. If you did the BCP CLI request 60 days ago, then you still have another 4 months to wait, until 181 days from that prior CLI request.

The 61 days is a precautionary gap that allows AMEX SP to catch up if scores are increasing rapidly, on a first AMEX card for example.

My letter says,"Please note we are unable to extend any additional credit beyond the credit limits listed above at this time"

I guess I just have to wait for now?

That response means you have probably reached your internal limit with them. If you request later, they may ask for income verification to give you a CLI.

Yes, When a bank moves your limits around, you've capped out.

The 181 days timing thing still applies, but there is no 3x-to-Infinity AMEX CLI program
