Diners Club 1 year later.

Well its been 1 year exactly today since i got my Diners Club. I applied for it last october 24th. took about 10 days to find out i was approved. But for only 5k. at the time my tu was about 693 so i was very happy to be approved in the first place. Now 1 year later and the regret of not going fot the elite has kicked in. I know it was $300 AF. but i have already transfered miles from my diners to my Delta with no fee as i have maxed this puppy out a couple of times. I think ive spent about 15k on it in the last 12 months. current balance about 3k. Just checked the website and it stills says the same thing it said last november. I guess it is gone like the Dinousaur. Dead. I still luv it. And now im waiting for the new AF to kick in. another $95. i even tried for increase when my tu hit 749 a couple months ago. No go. as i could not hide my utilization from them and they can see everything. They said my denial was not based on my score but was based off of my income which is low. $62k. Wondering has anyone been successful for a Cli as of yet? its now 12 months. and i want to try again. appears they don't care about heavy usage at all.

Too bad they don't allow PC. It does sound like CLI is possible though.

IMO 62k isnt low for a 5k card to try to get a CLI on.. I think their brakes are still hitting the floor for all now and I believe they have turned all down thus far that have requested a CLI (although I could be wrong).. I think they are not only not going to accept new applications, but hope for attrition to happen as well and for people to slowly give up personal cards and others are able to keep the cards. Just my thought pattern of their motives.

If they ever do open up new applications you can be sure of two things.. a) UW is going to be ALOT tougher. b) CL's will not be 30-50k. . Another I willl throw in as well.. C) curb any MS possibilities

Rant ... why is it who ever has been owning Diner's Club can't get it back to worldwide availability (one network) and open to Personal and Business/Commercial Cards?! I come from the old Diner's Club era when they had good programs (truth it was a special card). Now we bottle Diners Club up everywhere and we don't really have just one network even though it says Diners Club ;(

Bonus categories on travel and dining seem pretty difficult to MS but I could be wrong on that.

That's true. Harder than groceries for sure but it can be done some. Not going to get rich from it for sure

Oh it was abused hence alot of account closures.. Not sure exactly as I didn't reaad up on the methods.. Anyways can't really be discussed here either, but sure google will serve you fine if interested on it. Could of sworn reading people were putting something crazy like 25k a week through theirs or something at one point

1. Hidden Trade Line

2. Good Limit (back during rebuilding)

3. True Chip and PIN

4. Supported by a Big Bank

5. Transfer Points

I Hate

1. Limited/No growth in Trade Line

2. No BT Options

3. Seems to be no "relationship buiding" with BMO Harris

I called and asked about BT offers. The CSR told me that all accounts will be reviewed by Dec/Jan, and appropriate offers and incentives will be sent to the customers. I can't knock this CC. It gives me time to think about how I should finance those "one off" major things.

CSR tend to expand the truth LOL.

However, as an "emergency' card", or if you travel beyond North America. This is a great addition, and a keeper.

Exactly. We must have had 50 different answers from CSRs last year about when applications would reopen. None of them had a clue.

I just paid my $95 AF and couldn't take care of it fast enough. I love the hidden TL....even if the lack of growth in the CL frustrates the crap out of me

Wow you got hit with the new AF already? I guess since today is my 1 year anniversary. My statement will be on the 11th of November. i should be looking out for the new AF. ok. nice info.

Sounds like dishonesty on their part would be a very good reason to ditch them. That said, I haven't had any problems with my card.

I paid my AF with the September payment and I've run maybe $10,000 to $12,000 through the card over the last year. No issues, no problems and I don't really care about "points". To me the hidden tradeline is the best part, especially since I carried a fairly large balance for a few months ($8-9k) and yes I'd like to see a CLI but more for an ego thing than a need thing since $20k is more than enough spending power on one card. It won't hurt me to see the card go away, but I sure don't want it to.

I think the Dischonesty was from them leaving the reps out to burn. They had no idea they would get that kind of demand on the card at that time. It was pretty obvious. REps could not really see all the information about the cards. If approved or not. so they had to say something to get people off the phone. i was excited to know i had got approved and i only really found out once the pin number came in the mail about a week before receiving the card. Other Than that as stated. I absolutely love my card. Tried the heavy spend game and no cli. so its ok. Love the hidden Tl about all. and they do not bother you as well. even though im at about 75% util right now. have been there a couple of months. but i do pay 3 times the Minimum so no problem.

I've observed a good amount of people stating that they carry balances on this card. What are the interest rates like?
