Should I wait to get more CC's?

I've had a QS1 card with a $500 limit for awhile now and i recently got approved for $4000 with Discover. I'd like to increase my overall credit limits in order to lower my utilization, but I'm not sure if I should wait and let these two cards mature for awhile or to apply for one or two more now. I'd probably look to get a Quicksilver Visa and maybe Chase Freedom. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

well, we need to have a little more info first....fico scores, and how long you've had the two CC's. Any baddies at all on your reports?

My gut instinct is to tell you to garden for at least 6 months, and get some history with the Discover card, and then regroup after 6 months.

Only have my TU score which is 720 and I have no baddies whatsoever. However, my credit history is pretty thin

Exactly when did you obtain each card? Did you apply unsuccessfully for any cards, and if so, exactly when?

Are you in one of the following States: Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, Texas ?

Obtained the QS January of 2014 and the Discover card just this month, never been declined for a card. And yes I'm in IL.

the reason discover gave you such a high limit is due to a thin file. let that report at least 3 months before apping in my opinion

Those are the states that can apply for the FNBO 2% cash back VISA card. FNBO likes people with few Inquiries, and you can ask for a SP CLI every 3-4 months. So, might be a good card to build up as a crowbar to higher limits if you are just starting out.
