Barneys......help!

received my card today and after registering it I called for credit line increase. It keeps sending me to a live person and not the robot. Am I doing something wrong??

not to worry. keep trying. The exact same thing happened to me TODAY as well 10/13/2015.

Honestly, I registered my card and did everything so quickly I think I was ahead of the automated system.

After about 4 or 5 tries, I finally got the automated system. I was approved instantly for $10K.

I'll be back in 31 days!

I tried yesterday to do the "phone trick" CLI which should have been 31 days since my last credit increase and was denied.

I tried again this morning and was denised again. I'm not sure why and have to wait a week to receive the letter as to why. Maybe Barney's is no longer feeling generious with CLI?? I've had the Barney's card for two months. My inital credit limit was $4500. and was raised to $10k. I was hoping to get up to 30k.

As the old proverb says "haste makes waste". I wouldn't push those Barney's increases so fast. Try waiting about 2 months or till after your next month statement hits.

If you want to accelerate an increase, stop by the full line store and make a purchase of over your limit like about $15,000 to $20,000 (lots of nice stuff in their 2015 Christmas catalog ). I am sure they will go out of their way to try and accommodate your increase.

I do, but I've had this card for years way before even Comenity Capital aquired the CC portfolio. I usually frequent the Chicago store.

Cool, very nice. I asked like I did because so many folks here are fairly strong in opinions against cards with AF's, so with many here being that cost concious I was surprised with the seeming poplularity of the Barney's card. I was trying to separate the mentality of paying an AF versus average price points of items sold in Barney's versus other retailers.

IMO, if you shop a lot with a specific retailer then the rewards structure or benfits may make sense (i.e. special event sales, discounts/promotions, complimentary shipping, etc).

Now, BNY rewards can be a benefit for those who spend A LOT of $$$ at their stores, online or BW since they have varying earning levels for GC redemptions plus targetted offers and experiences. I was invited not long ago to a private shopping trip to the NY store and it was pretty fun. I mean, if you're only buying a box of tea, a candle or lipstick once in a while then maybe that's not what most folks are after (maybe BNY is the only retailer that offers specific products not available elsewhere) since you have to hit a specific threshold for the earning redemption. Of course, it appears a variety of folks may be attracted to the high CL potential with this card as a pry bar or to reduce/manage overall utilization but that's specific to each individual's situation. I doubt it's most folks getting Fendi bags or shopping for Manolos or fur coats on a frequent basis

Somehow I believe the majority of the people that hold the barney's card on this forum as for their high CL's, not that they really shop there much.. Just a hunch.. Although there are truly some that do use it.

Barneys has changed recently, many people are unable to get large increases now. While I have gotten substantial increases through the robot lady a couple of months ago, I now get declined on the first request. I am very comfortable with my current limit now. I really enjoy Barneys and shop there frequently. Good Luck!

Very good points and if you live close enough to the city it makes much sense. I knew you need a strong $$$ spend, same seems to apply to Saks.
