I will have ~26k MR points soon on my AmEx Green card.

What is a best value for MR points?

Is statement credit is only 0.6 cents per 1 MR point?

I do plan to have a flight in spring. should I shop through AmEx web site or transfer points somewhere?

Definitely not a statement credit! Transferring to travel partners is the best use of them. Others will weigh in that are experts in this area.

Any recommendation for new CC with bonus MR points? So, that I can combine all these points somehow.

Another MR points card.. No AF and this is a revolver vs. a CC. Using Incongito/private browser mode and opening this up should have a 15k sign-up bonus

before applying for new amex card i would go log on into your amex account and look at what partners they do have.

I love my PRG Amex! Just received my 50k MR points last week after spending $1k in about 2 months. Will definitely use the points towards my international travel next year

You answered your own question, indirectly.

1. You should never redeem for gift cards unless none of the transfer partners work for you.

2. The best value will always be to transfer out to an airline partner.

Wish I could link blog sites here.. Best best is to use google and search how to best use Membership rewards and you will get tons of hits. Unless someone here feels like typing up an essay.

I agree. It is best to google how to use any miles points (Chase, Amex, etc) as there are literally thousands of them already existing.

As I understood, the best value is to transfer to airline/hotel program during transfer bonuses period. The ratio could be up to 1.9 cents per MR point.

Popular options are Delta and British Airways.

Another airline partner for MR points is Air France / Flying Blue. Good redemptions from them virtually anywhere on partner airlines. Beats British Airways to Europe because of the BA fuel surcharges.

Round trip from IAH to DCA.

Options for US domestic flights (As far as I know):

- Transfer MR points to Delta Skymiles

- Transfer MR points to British Airways Avios and use it for American Airlines flights

- Transfer MR points to Air Canada Aeroplan, ANA, or Singapore Airlines and use it for United Airlines

To get the best deal:

- wait for transfer bonuses

- register (or call) to all (Delta, British Airways, Air Canada Aeroplan, ANA, or Singapore Airlines) programs and check cost (in points and in USD) for the flight and availability

- compare the price of the flight with better non-MR-friendly airlines

Only after all these steps we can found the real MR transfer ratio.

Looks kind of complicated for me now.
