What's up with AMEX no CLI luv

So, I've been with AMEX 10months now...Only a 1K CL.

I've always paid on time and more but they are still rejecting me for a CLI?

Any ideas on how to get it up some..??

!K CL's with Amex kinda seem to get bucketed and harder to get approved than say if you start out with a 2k or 4k or 10k CL or whatever.. I had issues on my 1k delta as well, then got the ED a month later for 10k (go figure) and had no issue getting that CL up to 26k.. So if you want another Amex card then you can always apply or keep trying every 90 days on the delta card.

even the $2k limits seem to get stuck for a while. been stuck with mine since march 2015.

What are the reasons they are citing in the mailer they send you?

I got my first CLI - auto - at the 11th month. Took me from 1k to 2k. Right after that statement cut (so a week or so later) I hit the 3X button and got 6k.

There was a 50 point jump in my EX score between my AMEX approval and my auto CLI.

What are your current scores. If they are close to what you have in your signature the first step is to work on improving whatever that is keeping your scores down. Just because they approve you for a $1K card doesn't mean that they want to extend you more credit with 670 scores. CLIs, even with Amex, are not guaranteed.

AMEX won't let you grow at the same score that they let you get a foot in.

I was stuck in that FICO hole for a while and had to carry balances; but I was also getting interest benefit because of 0% APR. Anyhow, with some inflow of funds, I was able to pay off big chunks, credit improved, and CLIs were there for the taking.

I haven't used my card in a least 3 months. My EX is also 14 points lower than when I got the card. 6 months ago. Just got a 12k increase 3 days ago.

The key is AU's and swipes from what I see. My two AU's use the card regularly.

I added my 5th AU just before requesting a limit increase. Even though only two actually use the card. They clearly like to see the opportunity for more people to use their cards.

Don't feel bad I am in the same boat although not a big deal right now I just got a PGR card and have been using the heck out of it instead of the Delta to get my MR points bonus. I hope next year my score will come up enough that I can get a EDP card then I may just move the CL from the Delta to the EDP.
