Well, like I often read on myFICO forums, "YMMV". Everyone's needs and experiences are different. It's short-sighted for someone to project their circumstances on others and pass judgment.

I recently hit the luv button on my QS1 account and received the "there has been a recent increase on this account" denial letter. No biggie, I thought. I'll just email the EO and recon, like I've successfully done in the past; twice actually.

Not so fast. I spoke to two different "managers" today. One said that over the phone reconsideration has never been an option in the three years he's been there. I quickly disconnected from him and called back because he clearly didn't know how to help me. I called again and the second person said there had been a recent change in the policy. They no longer allow humans to assist with credit limit increases, due to the sensitive nature of the information exchanged. Okaaaay. My last increase was in August and since it seems there is no more gray area, I'll have to wait the full six months before the next possible increase, unless someone here can tell me different.

Anyone else have the same experience with Cap One EO lately?

Thanks!

well it sounds like your account simply isn't eligible according to the denial reason... just because you don't get what you want doesn't mean you need to go straight to EO lol. come on... their job isn't CLIs. that's why they have the computer do that. if you're not eligible then take the denial reasons and correct the behavior. the EO is so overly abused it's ridiculous.

Most of the credit I have I received is a result of utilizing the option of reconsideration one way or another. There's no "behavior" to correct on my part. I wasn't turned down for negligent account practices. I don't feel it's unreasonable to ask for a limit increase 4 months after receiving one. A computer doesn't always have the complete picture.

You are not entitled to a CLI from anyone even if it's "been six months". They are under no obligation to give you any additional credit, and it's not a reason to call the EO. Doing so only hurts the rest of us, or you, when we have a genuine concern that requires the EO.

Just keep your util under 10%, PIF, and try again :-)

well that's not too bad. a CLI won't do much in terms of your "rebuilding" process but will help utilization some. but again, typically if you got an increase less than 6 months ago they do like to see they small period between to wait. do you have other cards to increase?

The EO is going to work every time and with every type of request. The person u talk with at the EO just takes the info and middle mans it for u. They don't make any decisions. But u have done it before so u know this. I've been turned down by the EO for asking for product changes or signature world benefits and them saying no not now and no escalation. But cap1 had been restructuring the channels with people so it makes sense. Like someone else said, it's a journey and eventually u will get the CLI. I get 1 or 2 per card a year, as others get more quicker.

TBH this forum makes some believe they are entitled to get increases. keep in mind most people posting about them (90% of the time) don't even need them. their monthly spend isn't even half or a quarter of their CL on a single card. people get them on cards the don't even use.... WHY?! you report virtually no utilization and you request a CLI? that's like forcing out a pee when you don't even need to pee. many get so caught up in the "how much credit can I get" game and don't use logic. If you want good cards from local CUs then you're screwing yourself with doing that

That is 100% accurate because I am guilty of that very attitude. I would get approved and anxiously try to get a CLI just to feel like I have accomplished something, when in fact I haven't. I have asked only once for a CLI on my Cap 1 Platinum because it was only $300 lets be honest thats very low now that its a QS card with $1300 i am happy with that I wont push the CLI button for some time. I did ask for Amazon to increase because I do a lot of business with them almost daily so for me that i feel is worth trying. But you are right in the beginning I just wanted to keep pushing my luck asking for more and more and it's really not that beneficial to me.
