New Amazon Prime Plastic Credit Card

Yesterday I rec'd by USPS a new Amazon Prime Store Card "real plastic" credit card with a 16 digit embossed account number and signature panel with 3 digit security code - just like any other credit card - no chip.

What is strange about this is it's not a new account, same limit, etc and this card replaces the "paper amazon card" - the sticker says the card was provided to give easier access to your account number and customer service (really? is that a problem?). There is a line that says something about "Amazon Pay" with partner merchants, maybe there is something in the works - I have no idea, but it seems like printing/stamping and shipping millions of new credit cards for Amazon Prime members is a lot of money spent for something....

Better then Overstock sending me a card. I see your point though, a credit card for an online site is a bit strange.

You are probaly right something is in the works.. They wouldn't spend all this money for mailing out MILLIONS of plastic cards if it is just stored online anyways. More to it.

Here in California, apparently there's actual physical stores you can go to. I must get intel...and gas.

Yeah, I have Overstock as well and um...why.

Yep...read in the news awhile back, that Amazon will be placing physical stores in select areas of the country, so getting a new physical card might have something to do with that. I also hav an OS "real plasctic" card too.

Second from California... there are pop-up stores selling the Amazon product line (Echo, Kindle, Fire, accessories) in some malls. Kinda makes sense for them to let you use their credit products for purchases from their locations, although you'd think they could use online checkout in the pop-ups.

That's interesting, well other than I'm 3000 miles from a phyical store

As noted in the news links, the 2 stores are basically pick up locations with nothing mentioned about on hand inventory.

That would be great to have stores to use it in. But I never heard of a paper card when I got my first card back in August it was plastic hmm something new to me. I am still wondering if they are going to send me a new card with Prime on it since I have been a prime member and paid for the year subscription. It's odd when I log into my account it says log in to view your Amazon Prime Card ending in xxxx weird right.
