Amex Question

I just opened a secured Amex through USAA. Since this account is owned and managed by USAA am I considered an Amex member or not? I know I am a long way from qualifying for a true Amex but gotta start somewhere. Thx.

Not sure what the definition of 'Amex member' is or isn't but you have an Amex now that can be used wherever Amexes are accepted. The card however isn't issued by Centurion Bank so you can't receive American Express offers, etc.

You are! kind of...I applied for my first real AMEX(platinum) back in August and they said I have been a member since whatever date I opened my AMEX through USAA. You just have the pleasure of dealing with USAA on all card related issues.
