Credit One keeps performing soft pulls on my credit report

I have never applied for a cc from them but Credit One keeps performing SPs almost monthly on my credit report. Should I be concerned? Is this something I should call them and investigate?

11 SPs in a 2 year period isnt unusual or an abnormally high number. Some creditors will SP you every month. They are just checking your credit to see if they want to offer you a card. Calling them won't do any good as they are allowed to do SPs as often as they want. I wouldn't worry about it.

But who gave them permission or even my SS number to do a soft pull? I did not ever apply for a or have a Credit One cc.

Shared info amongst 3rd affiliates perhaps? When you get a credit card it comes with a disclosure that states who/what kind of info is shared and if you can limit this type of info shared

Those soft pulls are of a type known as "promotional" pulls. They aren't pulling your

report by name, they are paying for a block of reports as a data base query. They are

asking for reports that match a set of criteria that match their target market group - such

as : people who live in Cali, Arizona & Nevada with Fico scores 600-650. (Just an example,

I have no idea what exactly they pull for). They pay for the soft pulls to use the information

to make lists of potential customers to market their products to.

The pulls do no harm and are allowed by FCRA. They do give you some info as to which

credit issuers consider aspects of your report to be in their target market demographic.

If you don't like the promotional soft pulls or the unsolicted offers that may come in the mail

because of them (junk mail), you can "opt out" and stop all unsolicted promotional soft pulls,

or "freeze" your credit reports and stop a wider range of credit report pulls.

SP'ing does you no harm. They are simply looking to find the 'most qualified' in their terms to extend credit. This is not an indicator of fraud.

+1 but when in credit rebuilding I wouldn't freeze your reports because it will be a real headache when you want to get something new and as your score goes up and you start to see big banks checking on you with sp you can figure your credit is probably getting better too!

Thank you for the replies. I do understand SPs do not hurt my score but I was concern of some fraud issue going on.
