Ritz card - Dirference between 140k points and 2 free night promo ??

got my new Ritz card coming tomorrow!!! The promo I applied under is 2 free nights at a tier 1-4 Ritz after $3000. But what is this 140,000 promo I see that was around ? Is it better than mine now ? Worse ? What can 140k get you? I've seen some success with people getting it converted to that promo. What's the scoop? I mean I think two free nights is amazing for $3.000 which I'd spend anyway.

The 140K promo is not available and hasnt been for a long time. Nobody has had success getting converted to it for quite a while. The 2 free nights is a good programs so enjoy it.

It was an offer for 140K Marriott points. That was the offer that came out in December/2014 and lasted for a few months.

10k points per night if you shop around (marriott) and 5th night free when paying with points.

140k = 17 nights at many Marriott props... or 2 great nights at Ritz. I just got my M account back up to almost 100k after I used up a bunch. When I stay at high-end AU and Ritz I have just been paying and earning the 5x.

Myself, I would take the 140k (which is why I gardened 8 months for it and still did'nt app for it this season). But, I'm not a huge spender. I can do 10k - 20k on the card per year for the Gold... but between my low 700 scores and not getting the full benefit (IMO) of the 140k points... I'm waiting.

Enjoy it. Regardless of the bonus, you have the upgrade, which to me is worth the card's AF alone (although I have gotten a few upgrades with silver).

140k points could be used at any property in the marriott family of brands (with a few exclusions that dont allow award redemptions, or haven't been fully integrated yet).

Also, 2 nights in a tier 4 ritz is 120k points, 2 nights in a tier 5 is 140k points, so it's slightly less. two free nights in a T1-T4 is still extremely valuable though, and worth far more than the annual fee is redeemed correctly.

I am curious how the SPG-Marriot merger will affect the points structure. I have about 110,000 SPG points right now that I am debating on using or saving. Lord knows the actual merger probably won't happen until 2018 though.

The points most definitely won't retain the value they have now within the SPG portfolio, but no one knows what will happen for sure. Arne assured us he'll be taking the best of both programs, but we'll see. You'll definitely be given warning before anything happens though, so you're safe for now

Combine your 2 free T1-4 nights and a signup bonus from the marriott card, and you can swing 2 free nights at the ritz carlton NYC battery park, and one night at the ritz central park. Give yourself a little 4 day/ 3 night NYC vacation

Rack rates (depending on your time of travel) for a 3 night stay in those 2 could easily be 3-4 times the cost of the ritz AF

I have a really hard time understanding the points and I have Marriott and ritz. 140 points can get you 17 nights at many Marriott properties? That's amaze! I have a ritz tier 1-4 free night stay but the hotel I want to use it for is a tier 5. I also have 82k Marriott rewards points. I just reread the post above and NYc Manhattan was my vaca, so I guess I could use that free night.

140k can get you 18 nights (not 17) in a category 1 marriott. You won't find those in your likely vacation spots. 140k points can get you 23 nights in a category 1 with pointsavers. Also unlikely to happen. Possibile though.

140k MR Points can get converted to 60,000 United miles. Good for RT to Europe. ($1500 For peak season )

ehh... I cruised the Carib and Central/South America for 6 years... "likely vacation spots" start to suck, lol. But, I do know what you mean, Last year we went to Niagara on a random weekend and could'nt find anything close to even burn up a cat 4 cert.

Curious how you get the extra night for 140k? trick? Planning a month in China at a few Courtyards and would love to know. I found plenty of nice 10k nights for our stay.

Category 1 hotels are 7.5k, not 10k xD. That's the lowest award category available. Category 2s are 10k
