topic Amex Premier Rewards Gold vs Amex Business Gold Rewards... One better than the other? Get both? in Credit Cards

Just to give a little bit of background, I have a small consulting company on the side (sole proprietorship) that I'm hoping to grow in the future, although at this point revenues are negligible.

I've been wanting to get an Amex for a while... I have a Macy's Amex, although that's not a real Amex, and had been looking into both a Costco Amex and a Fidelity Amex, but both of those are going away. Fortunately, I just received both of these offers in the mail -- one addressed to me, one to the business.

The only obvious differences in the offers are a slightly lower AF for the business ($175 after 1st year, vs $195), $1 increased late fee ($38 vs $37) and a higher initial spend requirement for the 50K points ($5K/3m vs $1K/3m), which I'll probably be able to cover either way. There's a $0 transaction fee for international exchanges on the non-Business one, which seems to have more categories available for the 3x MR selection.

Anyway... is there anything I've missed here or any advice one might give as to which of them to go with? Can or should I get both? Would that result in 2 HPs and 2 reporting trade-lines?

TIA...

Putting business spend on a personal amex charge is a big no no from everything I've read, so if you want a card for business spend, a personal PRG is not what you should get.

The amex business gold rewards card, however, does NOT include the $100 airline fee credit. The personal PRG does.

My advice, open a business gold rewards for your business, and a personal PRG for yourself, keep em both for the first year (fee waived) and use all the benefits. Close whichever you don't want anymore, or keep them both.

Another factor i would also take an look at is if you would be able to take advantage of PRG bonus categories.

That's an important reminder I hadn't properly considered.

I'm almost certainly going to get the Business card then. I suppose the remaining question is -- how do these report? If I get the personal as well will it simply be another TL? I seem to recall reading somewhere that the Business Amex doesn't report in (unless you have a delinquency or something), while the personal one does.
