How would a bank who doubles someone's rate benefit? The card holder will come out the winner because they have other cards at much lower rates they will use, and the high rated card will be tucked way behind the sock drawer.

They (HSBC) should have sent that notice to someone who was at 70% of their limit.

Now, the other problem: HSBC Platinum card was set to expire at the end of November. I was told the card was mailed on 10/21-08

The card never arrived, so I had to call India. They never thought ( or forgot) the fact that it had to be activated and had a different Expiration date on it . They went ahead a closed the entire account number, leaving me without a card . The card actually arrived 2 days ago, by a mule or something. But since it was closed it was useless to me

I called to complain about them closing the existing account number without informing me. A card was suppose to be express to me , but got lost someone in the system.

Now another one is on it's way to me and I was offered a $25 credit on my 0 balance account for the trouble they have caused. So still I wait for the new card

I HATE ALL OF HSBC IF THEY MESS UP MY GM CARD IN ANYWAY. THEY ARE HISTORY!

I still don't understand why you are dealing with an outfit like HSBC. I have one legacy card from them and seriously doubt I will be seeking any more. They are bottom to middle feeders and don't grow well. Their CS stinks. Why bother!

No one seems to understand. I have 3 HSBC cards, all 3 have different websites. I didn't seek out HSBC. They took over 2 cards that I had and they were open in 99 and 2000. I'm throwing away history by closing them. I thought this was a good place to vent , but I get the reverse

Not even vaguely close!

My post was not intended as an introduction to a discussion on the question of whether there was a better way to say what you said. Rather, it was a subtle attempt at a public warning that telling other posters to stop whining is not acceptable on these forums.

I see now that it was a bit too subtle, so I'll be more clear.

Telling other posters to stop whining is not acceptable on the FICO Forums.

Thank you for your cooperation in the future.

I feel the need to add my 2cents here - In defense of OP

He did start his post with "A question and release of frustration" - So it was clear what he wanted from the get go.

So his question (Which I don't see has been addressed, correct me if Im wrong I do have a tendency to skim)

"How would a bank who doubles someone's rate benefit? The card holder will come out the winner because they have other cards at much lower rates they will use, and the high rated card will be tucked way behind the sock drawer."

..... is rehtorical and is actually just a part of his release of frustration

and the second part - a release of frustration - he wanted to vent.

I mean it was stated right there in the subject line what he wanted. He asked a rhetorical question and then vented his frustration. He didn't ask for advice...

If we as readers choose to read and respond to his post it is not our position to judge him for what kinds of cards he chooses to carry. I may very well have scores in the 800's and choose to use my old HSBC cards from now until eternity. That is my right to do so and and I have every right to complain about their Customer Service or Business practices as do all of those who complain about AmEx.

Unless I have asked whether or not I should continue to use the card then that my friends is not open for discussion.

And to the OP -

Yes I agree trying to talk to someone in HSBC customer Service is impossible. They misunderstand half of what you say and just fill in the other half with assumptions. I don't know how many times I have called to ask a question and them start the "Would you like to buy credit protection" Schpill - then they never come up with an answer to my original question and I later have to call back and ask them to remove the credit protection that I told them no I didn't want in the first place.

Unfortunately 3 out of 4 of my cards are managed by HSBC

@plasticguy wrote:
How would a bank who doubles someone's rate benefit?

Now, on this tid bit of information, all I can do is help you vent and get it off your chest. I have no CCs with HSBC so all I can do is listen ..... I mean read. Unfortunately, some of these companies screw up big time. All we can do is call them some names and hope they get it right the next time.

KISS ALL OF OUR GRITS, HSBC!

There! Feel better?
