Capital One?!

So I apped for my last one and received this: Bad, huh?

Thank you for submitting an application for a Capital One® credit card!

Notification of approval status will be typically sent in 7 to 10 business days; however, in certain circumstances it may take up to 15 days.

In the interim, please do not submit another application, as only the first application received will be considered valid.

I got my niece to app for Cap1 as her 1st CC and she got the same message. About a week later she text me while I was at work and said her card came in the mail.

When I apped for my first Cap one card at the end of august I got the same message you got. I also apped for my BF and he got an instant denial. Needless to say I kept calling Cap One to check the status of my application and it was there I found out I was approved. My 2nd Cap One approval was instant.

I still have my Cap1.... it's my oldest open credit account, so I'm stuck with it (unless AMEX will backdate to my closed Optima account... and no, I haven't heard back from AMEX about that yet).

I have a $500 Visa with them. It is 4 1/2 years old, never a CLI, but no AF. It was a great card to build credit with (I eventually got other cards elsewhere).

As far as the 10 day notice, I got the same thing when I applied for a new card last month. I got a letter asking for a copy of my DL and SS card. Sent it in and I now have a MC with a limit of $1k. I already had the Visa and an auto loan with them, but they still needed proof of identity.

Stay hopeful.

So I found a number and called. They need me to fax my SS card and drivers license.

Sounds like you're in with cap1. Congrats. I seriously doubt they'd ask for that info if you were going to be denied.

Although I'm not 100% positive, I don't recall anyone who was aksed to send this kind of info being denied. I think you're good to go.

Good. Just give it some time. Trust me, I know how hard waiting is. What makes me able to wait is the fact that I have a few cards that I really do want down the line. (BOA and /or NFCU) These are worth sitting on my hands for. So relax, let your new accounts age, and remember your long term goals.

Ummmm, sounds weird to me. I have two Cap 1 cards and have never had to send/fax that type of info. Why did they need to see this info? Sounds fishy.

I have never heard of faxing a copy of your driver's license and your SS card to open a credit card. Not even Bank of Delaware or other lower end card issuers ask for this. Did you ask why they needed to see this info?

Even with an Amex FR you don't send your driver's license.

THAT'S why it sounds fishy. This is your identity...ask questions. Don't just send these things out.
