U.S. BANK Pre Qualify link....GOOD AS GOLD?

So we are all well aware of the many companies that have "Pre Qualify Links" such as Chase, Citi, Cap One (which are all reliable) and then you have banks like Discover, Bank of America, etc (which aren't reliable at all).

What about U.S. Bank? I did their Pre Qualify tonight and it showed me approved for the Cash Rewards and Platinum card and then I did it under my wife (NO OFFERS), My brother(DEBIT CARD OFFER), and then my Dad ( Cash Rewards + card)

So being that we all got different offers, I am wondering just how reliable this is. Let me go ahead and say I AM WELL AWARE THAT PRE QUALIFY/PRE APPROVALS AREN'T SET IN STONE. However, some sites are more reliable and I wanted to see if anyone had any luck with US Bank.

It is showing me an APR range of 11.99 to 19.99

I would go for it but the good Lord knows I don't want to waste and INQ. Any information on how reliable their pre qualify link is will be GREATLY appreciated =)

Well you do have an APR range and it does differ from their full range. So possibly? I tried and got nothing for pre-approvals personally. My only concern is: Are their cards still manually reviewed? Because you might be pre-approved online but what will their UW say?

I wish some people would chime in on this as it looks as if the pre approval link may have some validity because not everyone gets an offer to apply.

Has anyone pulled the trigger and app'd after getting card recommendations from their site?

two week ago- recommended for 3 cards, had the APR range

Ended up with a Cash Plus Visa instant approval. Mid range APR

Card showed up yesterday.

It showed already approved? Anyway, the pre-equals on their site are very solid. So if it is a card that interest you, I'd go for it.

It will have a RED bar above the card(s) for which you are Actually pre-approved. (Credit to BuYao for teaching this to me.)

Otherwise their prequal tool is a dirty liar.

That red bar is the winner on indicating pre-approved. I have a banking relationship with them and I get these offers but they are not based on my credit, just interests. I asked the chat person, nothing on this is based on Credit Profile.

I have a collection. It's from a chargeoff. It was a chargeoff from US Bank. It was placed October 2014. Ain't no way I'm prequaled, since I'm blacklisted.

I got a prequalification mailer from them; applied for the card; and was declined.

Here's my experience with them: have a brief banking relationship with them (7 mos or so) . Completed the "find my offers" check.....came back with 3 cards (cash +, flex and Ralph's/Kroger)..... Pulled the trigger and was declined 2 days later. (Due to my 2010 Bk). Just for giggles tried the "find my offers again". Zilch.... This was months ago....... Today all 3 "recommended offers" are back. Lol.

Never rely on prequals no matter how "reliable" anyone may say one is.

If one HP is the straw that breaks the camel's back then you should work on addressing issues with your profile that make the impact of 1 HP so significant before applying for anything. No one can tell you if you will be approved or not. You cannot rely on anecdotal evidence from others.

Don't rely solely on the creditor/product. That's just part of the equation. Your credit profile and income are the other part and will determine what you qualify for. Profiles and income of different people can and does vary and that's why you can't just look at whether or not others have been approved or not. It's not a matter of odds. It's whether or not your credit and income meet a creditor/product's underwriting criteria.

I was prequalified for the Perks+, applied, and instant approval. Nothing was bad on my report and I believe my score was 664 for TU.
