Comenity Shut Down Update**

I was going to post this in my original thread but its closed, and I wanted to share the results of my Comenity Shut Down so here i go.

I just put two bandaids on my hand from the papercuts I received opening up 10lbs of Comenity letters lol.

Each one said the same thing; Account Closed due to recent number of inquiries. We hope you apply again in the future.

My credit score of theirs was 762 from EX and 758 from EQ internal scoring.

In the midst of the mail was a preapproval for Blair Credit Card and Brylane Home lol. Oh well, at least its over and case is closed! The stack of mail was a bit horrifying, im glad its over and done!

Wow good old Comenity, they never change, sending pre approvals along with letters explaining why they closed current accounts, classic. I wonder how much money, paper and plastic Comenity wastes everyday opening and closing accounts. Oh well on the bright side at least their probably keeping the postal service from going totally insolvent. I'm glad you've got a good attitude about it, their loss not yours.

No I had a lot of exposure with them and couldn't skirt around the Comenity AA that has been happening more and more.

Sorry to hear!!! You haven't missed anything. They aren't any good. Someone used my Orbitz Visa. I didn't get any alert. They didn't block the account like Amex. I didn't know until I got my statement. I had to call my card stolen. It is time to move on.

Verification as they like to come across that's ridiculous they didn't spot the fraud on your card.

Did you use any of their cards? Again..sorry to hear. I have 5 cards currently with them and I am not looking to add anymore because of AA stories.

Some not monthly but I definitely didn't just let stay dormant

How old were the accounts? Were you actively using them? The only Comnenty card I had closed was their Taylor Rental one. It was supposed to be the Discover version as I still have the email saying that's what I was approved for (but it never was). I never used it and kept it as a small Utilization bump...

I currently have from Comnenty:

Blue Nile

Marathon

Sports Authority

I don't think I have any others. I thought my Belk and Chevron/Texaco cards were Comnety but they are Syncrony.

I REALLY want a higher Blue Nile limit because I want to propose to my girlfriend. However, Ive had the card for almost a year but no CLI though.... I only recently made my first purchase on it. I had no luck on the CLI Love like everyone else did.. so I am still at 1500....

That's a lot of open credit.. wow just wow... Perhaps something shifted somewhere on their end... to close all...

I remember a few years back Capital one reduced my credit because they said I wasn't using what I had available.... I closed my account with them the next day...

I can say with full disclosure on my part, I have a lot of inquiries on EQ and EX and the reason they gave of excessive inquiries makes sense.

You're welcome and welcome to the forums. There have been several other posters here that have had all their Comenity accounts shut down. It's hard to say what are the exact reasons but it shows its a ood idea to have diversity in your credit file so that if a creditor decides to shut down your accounts you have other avenues to turn to. In ddemari's case he has plenty of other very good cards so he wont be hurt too much.

Slow down on the inquiries because they can literally approve you on Monday for 8k MasterCard and then shut you completely down on Tuesday. I have more than that but inquiries has been a lot of the other threads on closures reasoning behind comenity actions to close down.
