Hello all,

I just upgraded my Citi Thank You Premier card to a Citi Prestige card, mainly because of the Airport Conceige and the $250 airplane credit because I travel a lot for work. Does anyone have this card? If you do is it a metal card or regular plastic?

I'm actually about to cancel my Prestige and keep the TY Premier. The TY Premier hass better earnings. I know Citi can get better redemption with AA but anyone who travels knows how terrible AA is, so that aspect isn't worth it.

Plastic. Fortunately, in October they re-designed the card so that the chip and stripe are on the reverse side of the card, and your name is on the front (and also on the reverse). I asked for and received the newly re-designed card a week ago because I was tired of having to explain the weird design to every cashier I gave the card to. In May of last year they redesigned the card to make it a matte finish (also plastic) because the earlier glossy finish tended to flake off.

It is a fantastic card though. Unlike Amex Platinum, you don't need to pre-designate an airline for the reimbursement, and you get reimbursed for actual airfare. The Citi Prestige also has Admiral's Club access for you and your immediate family (with same day boarding pass) and it gives you a version of Priorty Pass that is superior to the version given by Amex Platinum. The 1.6 cent/point value when used on AA flights is really nice, too.

I personally value 3x TYP > 5% cash back. If you redeem for international premium cabin flights, its worth way more than 5%.

2. SM has a $250 limit per month for gas/groceries. I'll spend more than that in a week, muchless a month. If you have high spend in these categories, you'll blow through the cap quite easily.

Agreed, but I was talking more about the premier having better bonus categories than the prestige. where I can get 3x for gas and travel vs the prestige that gives the 3x for airfare, travel agency and hotels. The former I tend to spend a lot more on. I wasn't comparing it to cards beyond that.

I have traveled internationally in business the past two years on points, but the partners for TYPs don't ever seem to work for me. Maybe more valuable to others, but for this I prefer my UR combo.

I don't get close to spending $250/month in gas, so guess that is out for me as well. I was socked that 5% on SM works for Sam's gas thought... Just figured it wouldn't (and in my area, Sams and/or Costco gas is much cheaper).
