All IHG Cardholders Check Your Accounts.. Multiple Fraud Reported

Received email alert from Chase about a transaction of $25 to Intl Food Assoc and immediately called because I did not recognize it. Fraud rep notified me that is a charitable organization in Iowa and was done online. He also informed me that someone in Brazil attempted a charge twice on the 17th but was declined because they didn't know expiration date. Card cancelled and another one ordered.

Third time I've been hit with fraud. First time with Chase. Shoutout to Scoreorbescored for encouraging me to set up my transaction alerts. I was instantly notified. Set up those transaction alerts on all your accounts folks so you can catch these crooks right away!

ETA: Another IHG cardholder reported exact same charge on their card!!

Good thing you caught it in time before they did more damage.

Having the the alerts set up is very handy. It does get annoying to get emails and text alerts

for a card you use daily but in the end it's worth having !

Like Baller said, y'all set up the alerts and set them to alert you for any transaction made for $1.00 or more.

if you can set for less then $1 then by all means do so, because sometimes crooks will try 0.50 just to test

the card.

BALLER! Exact same fraud on my IHG card at 2:18AM this morning...same company, same state, same amount. Security also told me there was another attempt but it was declined because they got the expiration date wrong!! Totally shocked we had the same exact thing happen! Thankfully I had alerts set up too...saw the email at 5am this morning, everything fixed by 5:45 and new card on the way. SMH fraudsters are patient and persistent...be aware people!

I've had my CC numbers stolen and used for purchases. The great folks at NFCU alerted me and called me. They canceled and issued me another card. It INFURIATED me that it happened to me! Up until this time, my prayers haven't been answered; I've prayed to get a hold of that person. Five minutes...that is all I ask...just five minutes.

OMG!!!! What the HELL is going on over at Chase. That sounds like an inside breach for us to both have same charge on our IHG card!!!

Very sorry this happened. Re/ your comment about two cardholders reporting the exact same fraud charge on their card, the exact same type of situation happened to two of us who are Chase Hyatt cardholders. We had new cards and had fraud charges to the exact same organization (some radical organization in Israel) for $2 on the exact same day.

Ours wasn't the organization you mention above, but both of ours happened with the same organization on the same day.

Something is going on at Chase, and I hope they get it fixed fast. Something is very odd that two IHG cardholders had the exact same fraud charge, and that two of us Chase Hyatt cardholders had the exact same fraud charge to the same organization on the same day.

Yea for the same charge to hit us both there's got to be something going on at Chase. That's not a coincidence.

Oh wow that's very odd!! I'm sure there were more hit. Myfico is a very small representation of Chase cardholders. There is definitely something going on over there!

Why are people so hung on up on "exactly the same thing happening"? <begin sacarsm> I assume you are aware of something called computers.<end sarcasm> These are probably not attempts by individuals who have managed to get hold of one card number. They are working through a list. Once you have a script to attempt small charges at a website, you continue to use it for a while, perhaps verifying that the exp date is correct and whether the charge is accepted. Once the volume is high enough, and issuer will catch it, but you might get enough profitable hits before that happens.

This doesn't have to be an inside job at Chase.

I completely agree which is why I stated "these fraudsters are patient and persistent". This post is just a warning for others who may not have stringent fraud alerts set up to do so. I am very anal about my accounts, so...yeah...

I am very aware card numbers can be stolen online. I just found it odd that another IHG cardholder had the exact same charge. Your sarcasm really was not needed when all I was trying to do was warn others to check their accounts. I happen to have $1 transaction alerts set up. Others may not and are not aware of possible fraud. No harm in checking LTL.

Chase also found it worthwhile to make note of and added the information to their investigation that two Chase Hyatt cardholders had card fraud on the exact same day, exact same organization online, and exact same fraud amount. Now the same exact thing has happened to two IHG cardholders. No reason for any unkind comments here. Agree 100% with baller4.

Wow I just literally got off the phone with Chase because somebody use my IHG card in Guatemala at a telecommunications for $3.25. I received the text email and phone call from Chase literally back to back about the situation.

Also I failed to mention that they shut down all 8 of my accounts and are re-issuing brand-new cards to me overnight and also right now I'm on the phone with the bank because something happened there to. If I could use profanity right now I would.

I just called Chase back and told them about the IHG situations being reported on top of the multiple Hyatt situations happening in this manner. They forwarded me to someone in the EO (I didn't ask, they just did so), and the lady there said she definitely would be sharing this trend with the investigations department, and that it would be of interest to them.

Doesn't seem so weird to report these trends when they are saying it is helpful
