Do you have a favorite airline? Delta Amex is pretty easy to get although the starting limits vary.

It also depends on what type of annual fee you are looking to pay as with travel cards the fees can definitely vary.

Chase has a great assortment of cards. What's nice about a lot of their hotel cards is you also double points on airfare bookings.

As others said, if you typically fly a certain airline you should look at those specific cards. If your airline varies and you also need hotels, look for a card that offers benefits for both. While I rarely need a hotel, I do fly often and eat out so the Chase Sapphire Preferred card is perfect for me.

If Southwest is a convenient airline for you and you are interested in the companion pass, the Chase Southwest cards would be good. If you don't need or want a companion pass at this time, I recommend the Chase Sapphire Preferred. It is one of the best general travel cards available. Unless you are looking for specific perks (such as an airport lounge or room upgrades) at certain airlines or hotels, you’ll likely get the best return from the CSP.

The AAdvantage Platinum is in this Travel category.

The prequalify feedback is good basic info. If you get a "sorry we couldn't..." then it is more difficult to say whether your app will be approved, or approved for a high limit.

If you get indications that they have a prequalification for you, such as a single APR on the AAdvantage Platinum card, that's a good indication for a successful app.

Which banks do you have history with, either through checking or CC?

I am traveling a lot more and use American, Delta andSW a lot. Often times booking one way on 2 different airlines-my popular choice is flying out on american and returning on sw. My decision on which airline to use is based on fares and routes. My jetblue card has not seen much action lately because fares are usually higher and on the east coast there is usually a layover in Boston. Dont want to risk being stuck in boston due to a snow storm
