I've read many posts in these forums, relating to possibly/likely, being AMEX blacklisted and becoming an AU on an existing account. My question is, is it better to become an AU on an existing account and just be added, or have my wife app for say the PRG and add me during that process? That way it's a card I can use alone for awhile. I currently have a 693 EX and recently had a Corp card through work. I left that company, but paid on time for 12 months. I am going to app for Marriott Rewards myself in a couple of weeks, so just in case AMEX pulls my credit, I am waiting to see if I am truly on the blacklist.

What happen to make you think Amex has blacklisted you? if your wife has an Amex, just have her add you as AU instead of applying for a whole new card.

I've been rebuilding for years and would like to get that on my own, if possible. It's to continue my journey to 800 on my own, that's all. If not, I'll have her add me. Not my first priority.

I'll app for the PRG and see if I'm blacklisted, after I app for what I really want first. I was able to get a Corp card through work a year ago, but yes, had two CO's 9 years ago.

I just apped, no HP, immediate denial, "because AMEX cancelled my previous accounts." Not that big a deal, figured I was. Can one become an AU while being blacklisted?

If your DW tries to add you as AU and the system doesn't allow it, it likely means the unpaid CO (i.e. blacklisted). Typically, depending on the timeframe this occurred, the CO and/or the amount, some folks can fall through the cracks and be able to be added as AU. But, if IIB and/or unpaid COs, then likely not. Only way to test this is whenever your DW attempts to add you as AU.

For sure

No BK, unpaid CO's. Will have to see if I can be added as an AU, not super important. She may stress, a little paranoid of her 865 score, whatever...

Won't effect her scores by adding you
