This happened to my dad. I applied for a pre-approved QS for him and something glitches somewhere that I didn't notice.

Next thing I know he's calling me, telling me he's got 2 cards in his hand and didn't know what to do, lol. I looked at his account and in addition to the $5k I saw approved, there was another $10k QS listed in his accounts. I about fell off my chair, he was a little freaked out (he doesn't want any more cc's, he prefers cash) but he gave one to my mom to use and he uses the other. I love cap1.

Capital One Question

I posted a couple of weeks ago that I applied and was approved for both the Venture ($10,000) and QS ($5,000) cards. I received the cards in the mail later that week and everything was great.

I get an e-mail last week from Capital One stating that my new credit card is on the way. I have no idea what card they are referring to. On Wednesday, my husband hands me the mail which includes a new QS with another $5,000. I figured it was a mistake, but activated the card anyway (thinking that the mistake would be found out). Apparently, it was no mistake.

After thinking about what I did when I applied for the Venture and QS: I followed a myFICO member's instructions by opening two separate tabs in my browser, filling out both applications and then submitting them simultaneously. The Venture was approved first, then when I went back to the other tab, it was still "thinking" (spinning) about it. Assuming there was a problem, I closed that tab, opened another and submitted a second application for the QS. Apparently, an approval was made on the first application without my knowing about it.

So here I am with an extra QS card (and an extra $5,000 limit). I was wondering if, under these circumstances, it makes sense to contact Capital One to see if they can combine the limits onto one card -- because I really do not want five Capital One cards (it looks crazier on paper than it did saying it in my head!). Or, alternatively, wait the six months to combine them.

Anybody ever run into this scenario? If so, how did you handle it?

Thanks!

realistically i doubt they'd combine. if you called they'd probably try to close it as it was a mistake lol. i would wait the six months and combine

You can call them but I don’t think they will merge for 6 months. Or.. hear me out…Wait 6 months and hit the CLI every month. Then in 6 months, merge them into one big card.
