Agree that the Amex overseas call centers are impossible, and often rude. Very difficult to understand, they can also be quite rude at times and don't seem to care about helping the customer.

I have found online support to be fantastic on both of my Amex cards, but certainly there are some things that cannot be conducted via online chat.

I feel for you. Once time I reached a US call center and the difference was night and day.

I do love my Amex cards and just received a CLI on my BCP, but wish they would eliminate the overseas call centers. It gives them a bad name.

Why do they have it. It's getting bad, last 4 times I've called I've gotten overseas reps. I've called for simple things like new address change since I moved. They are rude, don't follow their customer service training, and I , for my life, cannot understand what they're saying. Why has amex gotten worse about this. I had long term plans for amex but I guess now I'll stick with Chase as my long term cards instead!!!!

We have a 3rd party call center here in Columbus, Ohio that handles a lot of Amex business. We also have a high immigrant population, primarily from India, West Africa, and Somalia. So that overseas call rep may be closer to home than you think.

Totally agree. I just had to deal with the AMEX call center the other day and, man, they are SO DIFFICULT to understand. Clearly they are just reading off a script too. When you ask them a question that they maybe don't get often or is not part of whatever they have written in front of them, its nearly comical to hear them try to read off answers that really don't answer your question.

By far, though Citi, is the worst about this. I called there yesterday to see about my approval status (it's been 7 days since I applied) and I may as well have called my pets and asked them for as much information as I got. I was clearly a little frustrated and she just kept reading off her script. I like when they say, "Can I help you with anything else?" as if they actually helped with your original question.

A total 180 is Discover, Their CS is AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME. Do they have any overseas call centers at all? I hope not, and I hope they never do The service you get from them makes me want to do all my business there. I really wish they offered more services.

Yes!!! to comment about the CITI call reps - "I may as well have called my pets" this really made me laugh. However, pets are way more responsive.

Simple answer call the Amex Platinum number and hopefully they can serve you even if you don't have the Plat card as it is us based among most of their business cards.. Guranteed on-shore.. My Barclay's Hawaiian airlines CC is always on-shores as well. Depends not only on CC company, but also card. Also Chase follows same depending on card whether on-shore or off-shore.. I get auto routed on any card I call on now w/regards to chase to JPM as once you get a card with JPM and not chase it appears whatever # you call they re-route you as you are I guess more "valued" thus the better CS answered in one ring usually
