Good job, Bamagirl! I've always found Macy's to be easy to deal with and understanding of a one-time error. I think I'd probably try for the gli at your regular time, all they can do is say 'no'. And It can't hurt if you remind them of all the baby stuff you have to buy.

(off topic) Tyler Alonzo, 7lbs, 19 1/2lbs.

Hi!

I have a question and wondered if any of you encountered this and if so what was the outcome. My pymt was due with macys on 11/02, due to circumstances beyond my control ( was in hospital having a baby) my pymt was not made until 11/03.

i called the auto system and discovered bc of 1 day pyg late they had dropped my credit line $600. keep in mind i've never been late, never over limit or close to limit and normally i pay balance off in full or a large portion if i have a balance. so i called spoke to a rep,who took off late pymt chrg. i asked could my credit line be restored at that time, he said i'd have to wait and call back in 4-6 months.

i even offered to send in hospital discharge papers, or whatever i needed to do. he would not restore my limit so essentialy my limit was cut in half. what can i do to get my limit put back? i dont want to wait 4-6 months, i can see if i was always late or late by a few days but it was 1 day! please help with some advice to get this situation rectified!

thanks so much!!

I don't know to be honest, but other than pride, does the decrease impact your overall utility much or your ability to buy what you want on their store card? If you have a large ticket item you can likely ask them to increase it and they will on the spot.

I would send a letter and include discharge papers... explain about how you value your Macy's account and would NEVER have been late except for the unplanned and wonderful event you just went through...

Perhaps mention that you also plan to make Macy's (your favorite store) the plave you shop for that little future Macy's shopper you just brought into the world...

Call back and politely ask for it to be re-instated, pointing out that you paid it in full and it was a first time mistake. Throw in the fact that it is holiday time and you would really like the limit restored so you can do some shopping. Be persistant but polite and friendly and if they still say no, ask for the supervisor. Sometimes, it just takes the right person on the phone or somebody in a really good mood and you'd be surprised what they'll do for you =) I would just keep bringing up that you are a loyal customer, excellent payment history, and you want to do some shopping. They can make exceptions even if they tell you it's the 3month thing, if you are persistant and you try a couple of times one of them will definitely do it for you.

Well that's a sucky thing to have happen when you're embarking upon your baby moon. I hope that Macy's will be understanding and fix this for you. Of course, if they persist with their resistance, keep calling them when your new bundle is in the throes of a new baby hissy fit. Calmly tell them that your little one has a healthy set of lungs, and you're not afraid to use them.

Congrats on the new baby.

I applied online and got my cc number, went shopping the next day. 2 days later, my account information was available online and it said payment was due the day I went shopping (one day after I applied). I guess I had that special 20 minute grace period. My cl was reduced to $700 but only for as long as it took to call and complain. I mean, how can you be late when the due date is the day you did the shopping? To be fair, Macy's cc bent over backwards apologizing for the mixup. I've called back to make sure there is NO derog on my file whatsoever. Have you tried talking to an account supervisor? You have a pretty darn good excuse, as far as I'm concerned.

BTW, as we speak, my dil is in the hospital, giving birth to my first grandbaby.

thanks hauling and stef! i had mentioned way back when i found out i was pregnant, been busy so didnt log in much but still read posts etc..he was born 10/22 at 334 am, he was 7lb 14 oz and 21 in long he's wonderful and his big brother just turned 8 today..so now that he's here i'm going to try and get back on the credit repair bandwagon. i was doing well and then stopped...

i called macys and just got my cl reinstated..yea..last week the guy wouldnt do it. so yesterday i paid my $67 balance off and today i called and got someone, he in turn transfered me to someone, which i didnt know until the picked up and he said they would restore my cl as a 1 time courtesy..

now my question is do you think this will affect future cli's? and as you know with macys you can call every 3-4 months so should i wait 3-4 months from today or 3-4 months from when the cl was orginally raised??

thanks again for everything

You should be fine Bama for increases later. They actually auto-increased mine from 800 to 2500 recently. Just bought the grandbaby some Hello Kitty jeans and tops at Macy's. They didn't have any in my size, lol. Darn the luck!

Oh, and I couldn't find a coupon code that would work for my purchase and I left it in my cart and left the website thinking I would shop when some more sales came along. I signed into my email account and got a nice 'reminder' and a 20% off coupon to use on everything. Gotta love Macy's!!

Congrats again on those new babies. They grow up soooo fast. DD #1 just turned 22 yesterday.

Coupon code if anyone wants it: XM0IW1U1EB69
