Credit Card Closed

I received a credit alert today and lost 10 points. Barclay closed my Visa card due to inactivity. I hadnt used the card in over 3 years.

My question is, is that normal to loose that many points. The account was never delinquent, I just stopped using the card. Any answers are appreciated.

It really depends on what your overall CR profile reflects. For instance, if someone is carrying high utilization accross several cards and all of a sudden there is a loss of high available credit (i.e. account closure), then the impacts would be realized based on that closure (amongst other factors such as AAoA, rebucketing,etc.).

Well, first it could be a few different factors, but ultimately I'm guessing your AAOA was affected significantly since you say the card was 3+ years old. How old is your oldest credit account?

Except, an account closure would not have any effect on AAoA until it's removed from the CRs.

My oldest card is my Amex. 28 years. The Barclay card had not been used in three years. I have had the card for about 6 years.

oops you're right scratch that. Did you perhaps just have any other account changes between last alert and this one?
