BOA CLI Denial with no HP...

...my BOA CC hit the 9 month mark last week on the 7th and after the statement cut the "Request Credit Line Increase" link showed up on my account; I submitted a CLI request and was given a 7-10 day message.

I called a Credit Analyst today and he told me my CLI was denied, but that they didn't pull any of my credit reports and the denial reason was "too many recent credit line inquiries on this account". Which is odd since this is only the 2nd time I've requested a CLI.

Has anyone ever been denied a CLI without a HP? Seems rather odd...

UPDATE [in response to CreditMagic]: I called an analyst again to ask what I could do moving forward to improve my chances of receiving a CLI:

- He referred me to a website about credit habits (which IMO is not helpful at all)

- He said the recent (Dec. 2015) CL change was another factor in the CLI denial

- There was NO HP initiated

Be thankful if indeed they didn't and then follow they're instructions. Did you ask the analyst what they woud prefer to see that prevented a CLI this time? I found they are very sharp analysts for the most part and willing to go to lengths for cardholders satisfaction.

In that way you can meet their expectations (if you want) and then the next time it should come thru for you.

Now if they HAD pulled a INQ then you could call back to a different U/W in hopes of an override because that happens in your favor sometimes too.

I'm indeed very thankful! EDIT: All 3 reports as of today do not show a HP and the request was submitted last week on the 8th.

Shoot, good question, I did not ask them what I could do to improve my chances on my next CLI request.

It really depends on how anxious you are to press your chances because it's real easy to ask them to go ahead and pull anyway but that Analyst may be doing you a favor by NOT doing it.

I think I'm going to call anyways, but be polite yet very adamant about them not pulling my CR, I'm only calling to discuss my CLI request chances next time I request one.

Best of luck! My experience with boa was wait 6 months between asking and make sure my TU was at least 700+.

I'm not glad you were denied, but it's nice BoA didn't pull your credit.

Question: When was the last time you requested a CLI? BoA accounts are usually eligible for CLIs every 6 months. If you requested a CLI within the last 6 months, that could be the reason you were denied. I have found the analyst at BoA to be extremely helpful and forthcoming of BoA expectations.

Same happened to me I recently requested cli with no hp I was denied for recent credit change in credit limit (Aug 2015) kinda dumb however no hp

The last time I requested a CLI was in December and it was approved; if there is a 6 month rule then I may have jumped the gun. I assumed that I was eligible once more after seeing the "Request Credit Line Increase" link show up.

Because the first CLI was approved and as stated before the "Request Credit Line Increase" link showed up 3 months later, so I assumed I was eligible again, unless you think BOA just randomly makes the link available to troll their customers.

Too early for them right now

Work that card some more months and when you try again after that you'll be much better position. BofA sometimes likes to see more history.

I barely, and i mean barely squeezed in on my first card with them. Denied initially then on Recon they approved with a $1K SL. That was all i wanted. I chugged along with that little $1K from them almost a year before hitting it up for a CLI. It was approved for a total of $3500 and then after that and about every 6 months it was on a roll.

Be patient against patience and you'll get there with them.
