Closed the Cabela Account!

Was brushing up on some front page forum reads today and coming across RoseyK purging some cards it looked like an excellent idea while in the garden.

This card obtained last year has remained stale at the $3K SL and from the looks of things it isn't going to be of much use growthwise.

World's Foremost Bank/Cabela's isn't releasing any details on where it's to end up anyway.

Plus chalk up another one up to the favor of and give a plug to Synchrony Ebates. They have them covered too in the Cash Back list!

I closed mine last summer and started missing it. I just reapped to get it back.😬 I just don't know how to stick to a plan😜

I also conducted a very simple comparison.

Cabela's $3K (no chance if any for limit growth/well beyond 6 months now) World's Foremost Bank sponsored

Ebate's $15K (regular and dependable SP CLI's) (Rapid growth = customer/FICO satisfaction!) Synchrony ROCKS!

Synchrony offers CASH BACK every purchase at varying percentages, coupons, etc.

No Brainer.

well luckily if you want to open it again, you dont have to wait. and you can have up to 5 cabela's visa's open in your name lol.

obvi you dont want 5 but you can! lol

Thanks but i don't ever want them again, period.

I shouldn't gave in to the madness at the time anyway but that lowball limit was an early indicator this card was puke.

The next approval following Cabela's during that spree yielded $12K as was the one's before.

I got caught up in the hype at the time and now have to jettison bad decisions.

As a rule after closing a card that's it, permanently. No interest in going back.

I really wish i could cut loose the (lone) US bank card that's also stuck at that limit.but it's an oldest card so it will be while on that one.

I can't figure them out. My first card started at 5k then luv to 6k at 6 months then HP to 10k at 1 yr.
new card is 8k

I might have been able to ramp up spend on it enough to draw out some form of a CLI but after that lowball approval compared to the big boys they turned me off completely plus that just drives your ambition further to spend with Lenders who help your card managements not burden you down with chasing payments to avoid utility crashes. (even if they are only temporary)

Wait, you can have 5 Cabela's Visa Cards?

i just opened my first 3 months ago. How long do you normally have to wait to apply for another one? I doubt I do that, just curious.

Thanks humuhumun, i think so too.

Thing now is that there's not anymore cards that meet the eligibility requirement for the chopper now

not sure of the window for the 5 cards, but i think 3 months is all it takes to apply for the next cabelas visa

CreditMagic7....happy to know that my thread prompted a good decision, lol! I did close mine as well. I think I have developed some credit maturity😂. But I did get caught up on apping without giving a lot of thought to the benefit of the cards. And I'm 100% in agreement with you about Ebates, a great card that provides cash back. Luv that card and I rather focus on CLI on Ebates then to fool around with Cabela, Sportsman Guide Visa, Overstock, etc. Congrats to you!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🎉🎊🎉🎊🎈🎈

OK man this begs the question.. How would you know such odd information? Spill the beans already. How many Cabelas VISA cards do you have? or did you have?
