I pulled my credit reports and have been reviewing them. Working on paying all of them off. I am like the rest of you just sick of it and can not wait to get these monkeys off my back. My question is cleaning up my credit report. The things that are hurting me are four 30 day lates and my utilization.

TransUnion Experian Equifax

Total Accounts 35 35 32

Open Accounts 24 21 26

Closed Accounts 11 14 6

Delinquent 0 0 0

Derogatory 0 0 0

My FICO scores are in the 650's

I have an account called Hsbc/Saks

Status Feb. 2008

Date Opened Aug. 1999 30 day late 2003

Date of last Activity Jan. 2005

Chase 7/2006

Date of Last Activity 04/06

Account Closed at consumers Request

Paid account/ zero balance

30 day Sept. 2004

Bank of America Mortgage

Status November 2008

Date Opened Jan. 1999 30 day late January 2005

Also I have a Bank Credit Card with a 30 day late paid off. I believe it was late Sept. 2004.

I talked to the Mortgage company today and they told me unless it was the Banks fault they could do nothing about this. It wasn't.

I don't have the account number on Saks and am not for sure what to do with this.

My question is what do you suggest and how long until they drop off. Is there anything I can do with the Mortgage Company. You would think with the mortgage crisis and all the defaults/foreclosures etc. they would be willing to help just a little on a 30 day late. They just didn't seem willing at all.

Thanks for any help.

Teach4kids, welcome to the forum! There is some hope but it will require tenacity and patience. The utilization is obviously something you can reduce either in a heart beat or over time. As you pay down your debts significantly to the point where there is less than 10% in utilization, expect a nice score jump. Now as for the 30 day lates, this will require lots of patience and persistence. Since the 30 days late status are accurate, unfortunately it cannot be removed since it is part of your credit history. However, you can try writing a good will letter to the creditor and see if they can remove the remark. Type in GW in this forum and you will see plenty of example on GW. Keep in mind there's no guarantee to have them removed. In some cases, writing to an executive officer might help you tremendously. Good luck and cheers!
