My Discover IT Secured card just graduated

I just got an email from Discover telling me that my security deposit was being returned and I would have my check in 5-7 days. I got my card in March 2015, so it has been exactly one year and a month. I'm glad I was patient, as I was thinking about calling them last week.

Congratulations! If I may, what was your deposit on the card and did they give you a CLI when it graduated? Mine is almost there, only 11 months to go. lol

Congratulations! That was such a great day for me. My deposit was returned and my account limit went from $500 to $2000. Since then my relationship has just grown and gotten even better.

Yay! Nice to know that it does actually happen. I just opened mine! I'm trying to use it but I'm too cheap to add to my 500 limit, so it just gets a little monthly love!

Congrats on the graduation! For clarification, would you mind your deposit amount, your scores at time of graduation, and if you received a CLI upon graduating? I don't have the card myself, just think it may be beneficial for future hopefuls with Discover IT Secured!

My deposit amouunt was only $200. I just looked at my account, as I didn't even think about a CLI. My account is still at $200 limit, but now when I click on credit line increase, I can enter my income and employment info. I didn't do that, cause I am not sure if it would be a hard pull or soft pull. The message says they may pull credit report, so since I just got 3 new cards this month, I didn't want to risk it yet. According to Discover my credit score was 662 as of March 27th, so the new cards could have brought it down some.

Does anyone know if Discover does hard pulls for a CLI? I would really like to know before I ask for an increase.

I meant to attach the message at teh bottom of the page on the CLI Form...

"After reviewing your application, we may need to pull a credit bureau report, which may affect your credit score. In these cases, we will proceed with the application only with your consent."

Does this mean it's automatically a hard pull, or they might do a heard pull if they feel they can't increase it?

If they want a HP they will tell you first. Once you fill in your employment and income info and then hit submit, the next page will either approve you, give you a wait/decline message, or will tell you they need to HP your credit. So go ahead and go through the first step, and the second page will let you know if they need to HP you - They wanted to HP me so I canceled the request.

Thank you JustMe3! I didn't know forsure if there was another screen after the first one, so I was reluctant to pull the trigger! I'll go ahead and try it!

Congratulations!! I wish they would show me some love, but they want a HP from me and I'm firmly planted in the garden. Perhaps in a few more months they'll change their mind and allow me a SP CLI

It's a SP. They will ask permission before doing a HP.
