(Update) Amex BCP 14 day message

Finally got the Kahuna's to apply for the BCP a minute ago, and just received the 14 day message. When I applied in January it was a very quick denial....so I guess this is better. Lol. Nervous! Already checked the status online, still processing. Now gonna try my last app, Ebates. Come on Amex bring on the good news!

Update-- Approved! Approved! I'm so very happy! Approved for both Ebates, and BCP! :-)

LOL... there have been whole threads discussing that very topic. It's actually quite subjective (although you'll get strong arguments for and against both).

Basically if you want cash back, go with the BCP. If you value Amex MR points, go with the ED.

EDP should be compared to BCP and not the ED ED should be compared to BCE. Anyway, I think EDP is great and can get more out of the MR vs cash back from BCP. That just depends though, if you want to get 3x-5x more back on flights using MR vs getting straight up cash back and using that money.

1MR=1 Delta mile = 120k-200k miles for Delta is similar to BCP and would equal 1.2k-2k dollars back but using MR you could get a 10k dollar ticket with 120k-200k miles and fly all first class round trips. that is almost 5x more return in this scenario. Could be more return if you fly cheaper airlines etc. That is how I see it.

We haven't reached a point in our lives where we are traveling yet. Max rewards on groceries would be nice. Or running our bills through it (like mtg pmts). The rewards should add up really in the long run.

DW and I are starting to see CK recommendations for Amex cards with Approval Odds of GOOD, even at my current scores.

The BCP is one of my favorite cards, especially for groceries!

Just a word of warning about CK recommendations... they are more like "suggestions". I would check the American Express pre-qual page to see if there is anything there for you, but don't be discouraged if there isn't. I didn't have anything showing up with a set APR (which the pre-qual offers will have), and I was still approved for both the BCP and the Green card.

Edited to add: Most folks have historically reported more positive results for the BCP with EX scores 670+, preferably closer to 700 (my own was 695), but things seem to have been more relaxed lately, so YMMV.

DW just opted back in a couple weeks ago (I opted in during the holidays last winter). No apps for her until after we buy a house. Hopefully that's enough time for opt in to clear for her. I don't get a single recommendation anywhere. I think my scores are the reason why.

Try the prequal You would be great maybe for the platinum or QS1 if you do not already have them. Also, store cards like Macy's. No one can really make recommendations because we don't know what cards you have or why your score is so low. I hope you do get the BCP one day. I got the EDP with 647 score, so you can do it. I seen another guy get it in the 5xx last month. Crazy right.

No apps for me for a while. I'm going to hop out of the Garden for the mtg app (direct lender) & then replant my seed the same day. I opened 7 TLs last year from Apr-Jun. Just letting them age. I'd be perfectly happy with what I have until my HPs fall off. Should rack up some serious green OKs on my CRs and enjoy some nothing but SP CLIs along the way. I care about growing my AAoA. Im impressed to read the posts by members here who have 15+ yrs AAoA AFTER a CC app. Plus a really old closed TL is starting to fall off my CRs as of this month. Sad face.

It's DW's turn to establish TLs. I don't even want to be an AU on her upcoming TLs because I value my AAoA.

lol, well said. I will also garden for 2 years. Only come out if my score rises to 740 on EX. I want to app for the Blispay. I can wait though I don't mind. Anyway, I think we took over the OP thread I am off to bed. see ya around. GL with that mortgage.
