I found a link to the credit pulls database in a thread on this forum and find it to be useful, although IMO there isn't much information in there. When I type in the card I'm interested in and enter in my state there may only be 2 or 3 pieces of data from the last 2 years or so. Older data to me isn't as useful as the CC company could be pulling from a different bureau now than they did back then. If you go back far enough this does look to be the case many times.

Is there a section on this forum or thread somewhere on here that people have been submitting info to when they get approved for a card as far as which bureau(s) they were hit with a HP from? I feel like with the wealth of information on MyFico and the amount of people on these forums there could very well be far more useful data on here than in the credit pulls database.

There is no such thread here and if there were, it would suffer from the same limitations as you find with the credit pulls database. If you are interested in applying for a credit card and it's that important to know which bureau they will pull from just ask but we don't really need some kind of ongoing list.

The problem is that which bureau (or bureaus) is pulled varies by location among other things. So I may have TU and EQ pulled for a Chase application where someone else may see EX and EQ, or just EX, or whatever. The data is not going to be consistent enough to establish a pattern much of the time. Of course, some creditors almost exclusively pull the same bureau no matter where you live, but there can be variations.

Typically, a HP by itself is not a big deal, and the new account is going to report to all three anyway, so worrying about which bureau is originally pulled is probably not super important most of the time.

I agree. I do like that on the credit pulls database you can select your state and at least get a few pieces of information that could be relevant. Whether or not that sample size is big enough to give a strong indication is open to argument.

I'm planning on acquiring 3 more cards next month and my plan was to attempt to grab on HP per bureau rather than end up with multiples. If my research is a little off and I end up getting 2 on one bureau no big deal, but I would very much like to avoid 3 HP's on any bureau. I guess whey I decide on the exact cards over the course of the next few weeks I'll search them on this site and try to find people in NY on here that have applied for them and see what bureau(s) they pulled.

Most companies will pull certain bureaus regardless of your location, and some will change based on your location. Just to give you a piece what i know, Synchrony - Barclays almost always TU, Amex, almost always EX, Capital one All 3 (EQ, EX, TU),Comenity mostly EQ. So you focus on the cards you want, then do the research on those lenders.

Lenders can sometimes be all over the place on which report they pull. The only one that has been consistent in my experiences with them is Synchrony Bank as they've always pulled TU for me. But I know from reading on the forum that it isn't the same experience that others have...I've read where Sync has pulled EX for Lowes on some folks.

Good info coming in from many in this thread. Thank you for the feedback thus far everyone. Yeah from my research (all looking at NY pulls) it seems that the majority of the time Synchrony (counting Lowes too) pulls TU, Amex EX and Discover It EQ. I'm leaning toward going for the Hat Trick with these 3. There are a few others I was interested in too, cush as a Citi card (Double Cash for example) but they seem 50/50 on EX/EQ so there's a little more risk in me not hitting my trifecta. I'm looking for 3 cards that I'm very confident in approvals of all 3 and that are known to either give nice SLs or nice SLs with a reconsideration call as well as hearty CLI's. I have not looked into the Amex line of cards so I'm not really sure which to lean toward, but it would be nice to have an Amex in my portfolio. As of now, I only have a Capital one QS.

Care to share your data?

I have applied to quite a few cards this year.

AMEX pulled EX for charge and credit, whether co-branded or straight from AMEX.

Capital One always pulls all 3 (even if you apply to OD credit line for checking account).

Citi AAdvantage pulled EX

Chase SW RR pulled EX

Discover student loan pulled all 3.

Sallie student loan pulled TU

US Dept Edu pulled TU

Also to add to the fun is that even divisions of the same lender may pull different reports.

For example:

Citi Retail (Home Depot, Brooks Brothers, Best Buy) have pulled EQ in my experience.

Any other legacy Citi card has always pulled EX.

Apart from the sample size (on credit pull database, whogavemecredit and threads here) being small, it is also biased and potentially inaccurate! I think it's reasonable to assume that most people who enter such data are credit card junkies, and as such probably have a lot more inqs, new accounts etc than the average person who applies for the card. So if an issuer is particularly sensitive to inqs, for example, people may get the card with a lower score than suggested here.
