I checked my FAKO yesterday and it was 603 for TU, which is what GEMB usually pulls. I have not pulled MYFICO TU since last month, but it was 619. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

I went on a mini app spree for GEMB cards. 4 apps-3 approved, 1 denial. WalMart -$400 JCPenney -$150 Meijer MC -$1200 Old Navy -Denied I applied online for the Meijer Card about 30 minutes ago. They offer a store card and a MC. I got the 7-10 day message. I was feeling a little pi$$ed because I assumed it was a denial. 5 minutes later I get a call from Meijer Credit Services to verify info on my CR (old address, county). I was then placed on hold for 30 seconds. When the rep came back on, she said I had been approved for the MC. I was just hoping for the store card. Needless to say, I am happy now. All of this thanks to the great minds here at MyFico. I have come so far in the last few months because of the info here. Thanks. God Bless B

I have a Care Credit account for my Lasik with GEMB. I applied for Walmart card and got a whopping $150. I also just applied for the Gap card and got a message saying that I would receive my decision in 24-48 hours which I am sure is a denial because I have been denied by them for a Car Care One account and it gave me a similar message. I wish I had a GAP card because I do 90% of my clothes shopping from them and Banana Republic. We'll see!!

I had a BK that was discharged in March 2006. I received the Care Credit account 1 year post-BK, then I was denied for Car Care One account and then was approved instantly for the Walmart card for $150. Hopefully, the Gap Card will turn out to be approved, but I have no idea what GEMB is thinking from account to account.

I got denied for the following reasons:

TOO MANY RECENTLY OPENED BANK/NATIONAL REVOLVING ACCOUNTS
AGE OF OLDEST ACCOUNT
TOO MANY INQUIRIES LAST 12 MONTHS

Oh well, I guess I will just payoff my Care Credit account and close it and even though I activated my Walmart card, I think I will close it also. I think these companies should take into consideration that you already do business with them and have had an excellent payment history. Many people bash Capital One, but I have 3 accounts with them plus a savings account. They have never done me wrong or turned me down for anything. The business that GEMB would have received will now go to Capital One.

Message Edited by dallasjetfan on 11-11-2007 10:31 PM

Why would you close them after taking the inc's and actually getting the accounts? Any open credit will help your util and in time you can negotiate better rates etc.

Wouldn't it make more sense to keep them in the "sock drawer" and dust them off once every 6 months, buy a cup of coffee, then pif and put em back away?

Your still voting with your business and taking advantage of the boost to the CR.

I could be wrong, but it seems to me that you may be reacting emotionally rather than logically to the denial.

I'm not opposed to closing an account if it's not doing you any good, but leaving them open and idle may logically do you more good than closing them to make a "statement".

Something to think about.

Just my 2 pennies worth.

Van

The website is www.meijer.com Then scroll to the bottom and click on Financial Services. I now have 9 GEMB cards since I started this thread. I know, I know, off to the Sleigh Center. But I got instant approvals at first, then the 7-10 days. So I used their 800#. The number is 1-866-246-4282 (This is for store cards. I am not sure about the GE major cards). Call them and tell them that you just applied on line, got the 7-10 message and wondered if they needed addt'l info. All of my 7-10 were approved after I answered their security ?'s. You have to call within 48 hours. I called a week after I was declined for Old Navy and the denial letter had already been issued. The CSR told me after 48 hours, they can't change a decision. I know that seems strange, but that's what he said. So, after my other apps, I immediately called, answered ?'s and was approved. YMMV. Good Luck.
