I'm not familiar with charge cards, and I'd like to know if I take advantage of the airline credit, and my statement is about to close in a week, how long do you have to pay your charge card balance? It says the credit could take 2-4 weeks before it appears. And I'd want to have my charges credited before I have to pay for them (I'll apologize in advance if this makes no sense, but I hope you can understand what I'm asking)...

It really depends on the airline to report to Amex, some times it can take more than 2 weeks. For me it got credited before the statment closing on my PRG and it took 7 days.

My second question is regarding credit line increases. I have 3 American Express cards, 2 official, 1 co-branded card. I received a CLI on one of my cards, and when I tried to apply for an increase on another card, it said that I could only receive an increase every six months on my cards. So this means for all of my cards, I'd have to go on an 18 month cycle for credit line increases..? Is there a way around this, or am I misunderstanding something.

Unfortunately you cannot get another increase for 6 months, there is no way you can get CLI unless Amex give you an auto CLI

Thanks all!

My credit usually appeared after a couple days. As far as the CLI goes, you can only be approved for a CLI every 6 months on one card, so yes, it would take you 18 months to get a CLI on all three unless Amex gives you an auto CLI. There is no way around it.

The $100 statement credit has always posted about two days after the qualifying airline purchase posts for me. Make sure you've designated which airline you wish to use ahead of time or it may not work. There's a place to do that under the benefits section online or talk to an Amex customer service rep.
