Credit Care (Synchrony Bank) or PLOC?

I'm suppose to be gardening BUT I feel like I need to get one more INQ/new account out of the way before I can stay firmly under the dirt lol. Always wanted cosmetic surgery and I'm thinking of doing it now or I'll need to wait until after I purchase my home which could be late 2017 or sometime in 2018. Doing it now would mean I'll pay it off within a year.

Not sure if I want to get a PLOC since I am still within 90 days with PenFed or should I go with Credit Care? I'm only thinking of a PLOC to avoid another HP and new account. If Credit Care, which bureau do they pull? Are the inquiry and new account sensitive?

Or should I garden, get the house and "girls" (LOL) later?

Care Credit/Sync typically pull TU and can be very generous. I was approved at almost $10k out of the gate. PenFed PLOC is awesome but I'll be honest, it's a lot harder to get than their credit cards. Most folks are shot down instantly, some go pending with a loan officer and still denied. But there are some success stories as well. I'll also add that CareCredit tend to have really good finance options as well. Depending on what procedure you're having, you can score 0% for a year or better. As you know with a PLOC that isn't the case. Best of luck in whatever you decide.

Care Credit can have some really good 0% offers.

You might want to check with your provider to see what could be available (there's evidence on here that the promo offered at the time of sale can be somewhat specific to the provider, i.e. how many months you're given).

We have a strict rule in our house. Savings are for old age!
I payed the 2% fee and BT'd the balance over to Capital One on the 0% for 18 months.
I pay more than the original $500, but if I get in a pickle, I can reduce it down lower if I have to. I broke a tooth just a month later and had to get a full crown (my dentist can sometimes do 1/2 or 3/4 crowns that are cheaper... but not this time - of course). When I went to pay (approx. $900) I was given the option of 6, 12, 18, or 24 months to pay... of course I took the longest period, not planning on needing that long, of course.

In November I went to get my implant done (the total was $1895), and when I went to pay I was only given the choice of 12 months. Since I had a shiny new screw in my jaw, stitches, and novocaine that would soon be wearing off I didn't bother to ask why those were the only options this time. (It was the same provider that did my crown.)

I plan on having it PIF well before the deadline anyway, but if something were to go wrong I would quickly BT the remainder over to Capital One or Discover without concern.

I'll only add for anybody that might be looking at Care Credit to be sure to have any promo PIF before it expires or they will add on interest back to the very first day ("deferred interest").

The promo for my implant expires on December 23, but I plan to have it PIF by December 1 to be on the safe side. Also FWIW they make it very clear on your statement (or online) when the promo expires, so you really do have to be careless to miss it - it's not "hidden" or anything.

@UncleB wrote:

+1

I got my Care Credit last August with the intention of keeping it in the SD until it was time for my dental implant. Lucky me...

Spoke with my provider and they only offer the CreditCare 6 months 0% financing OR the lower apr option of 14.9% for 24 or 36 months. I'll def do the 6 months deal and BT if I can't PIF by the expiration. Just got a new Cap1 QS with 0% APR until 2017 AND I have a Venture that I'm frequently getting a BT offers on for 0% 18 months.

However if all else fails and I can't get approved for CreditCare, I'll do the PLOC if approved since the apr is lower. Hell I might just stick it on my QS and several cards with the 0%apr right now. This way, no HP or new accounts on my reports. I think I may even go in this direction depending on the cost. I'm certain my surgeon will give me a nice discount because I'm not a new patient and I've sent others to him....he did tell me he would give me a discount when I am ready.

Not yet! Saved it, offer is good for 90 days. As I thought about it some more, I'll prob just put it on my 0% cards. I'm sure the entire procedure will cost wayyyy over $5K because I've had the consultation before and I'm looking at no less than $8K.

Can I recon for more? I don't really need the PLOC but I may just get it just to have.

Just my take on it, I keep my PLOC (it's new) for emergency cash situations so I don't need to dip into savings. I would take it and let it sit then use it a bit and later ask for a cli. Just my humble opinion. Everyone doesn't get approved for their PLOC's.
