synchrony bank sc to mastercard upgrade thread

im starting this thread to see who went from a store card with snchrony bank then as their limits raised over time did u get auto offered a mastercard or discover before then. im wondering if a high limit with per say jc penney or walmart or sams club, old navy, toys r us etc triggers the offer . tryna get some stats together to know if it is worth it to upgrade and if they hand out a big increase when it happens

I'm also interested in any details anyone may have to offer. I would really like it if they upgraded my JCP card to the Mastercard version. I remember the posts from last year about the random auto upgrades...I tried a couple of time to get the upgrade via chat to no avail. Has anyone here been able to smooth talk there way into the upgrade?

I dont think I would tak the upgrade if they offered it. It is a new account and reported as so. The only thing you are beating is the inq.

I think that if you qualify for the upgrade you would qualify to app for a new card. I decided if I want a new card, I will app for it.

I did start off with a Sams Club Credit card with a 1k limit. Went back to the store & told them I wanted a Sams M/C. They instantly approved me for 3.5k & I closed the first one. Just 3 months later, raised that to 5k. Good chance of you doing the same.

was it a sp offer or hp. when i opened a sams membership i was preapproved sp for the store card at 700 that was 9 months ago i think now its at 2500

I applied online & then went into the store & noticed that they had the M/C. I'm kind of against the regular store cards (except Vickies) & decided to see what they would do. So once I got the M/C from Sams, I closed the regular Sams card. Then to my surprise, they just raised the CL to 5k a few days ago.

I was offered to update my JCP store card to the Mastercard version once I reached $5K limit. I took the offer, and just last week received an atuo CLI to $6K.

I have had my Old Navy & American Eagle right at a year and got upgrade offers on both this month.

Old Navy limit was $3600 on store card when I accepted upgrade offer my Visa limit dropped to $2,200. (plan to call solutions when it arrives)

American Eagle limit on store card was a lame $400 accepted the offer Visa it increased to $2,500

Old Navy popped up before it took me to account summary - American Eagle did not pop up it showed "upgrade" under the offers tab at the top.

A SYNCB upgrade elegibility is only available by invitation. Smooth talking is not going to trigger an upgrade whatsoever. But, if you're bored and want to talk to someone at SYNCB, see where that leads

I was offered the upgrade to mastercard after I had the card for 2yrs. and my limit had went from 500 initially to 4,600. Once I got the new card and activated it the site popped up showing a new limit of 6,000. Then next CLI 3mths later went to 10,000....

I was offered the upgrade to the Walmart DISCOVER After about 6 months. I used the card alot Before the upgrade.

My experience with them just this week: I have a JC Penney store card that may be right at a year old that I've used maybe 3 times this year.The SL is 500.00.A few days ago I called up customer service to inquire about my charge I had made at Sephora that was still in pending status,just wanting to know how long it took for it to clear etc.I randomly asked the associate "For future reference,should I request a limit if it would be considered a hard or soft inquiry.She told me it would be a hard and that JCP do automatic CLI's.I replied nicely "Okay I will just hang tight and hope for that because I was anticipating some home redecorating and school shopping in the future....Fast forward 2-3 days later: I receive a letter in the mail that I had been upgraded to the JC Penney Mastercard!! Now it is an upgrade and Im assuming that it is a soft inquiry.I will call before accepting and activate to verify as such...Just my experience

A couple years ago a few of us were offered the upgrade on our Walmart store cards. Those that took the upgraded card and activated by phone seemed to get a (larger) CLI than those that activated online. Not everyone got a CLI adding this in,case you accept the upgrade. I don't need the upgrade and I have plenty of credit. I'm taking it for my personal success in rebuilding and very easy to explain to creditors. ood point,,I called them after posting this out of curiosity and inquired about that and she said the limit will remain the same..Bummer.This past year I have been developing credit and wanted an increase for my credit portfolio but that is not to be at this time apparently.

I got the SC (Walmart) 3 years ago and spent some, PIF, didn't use it at times, carried a balance off and on for 8 months. My SL was 500, then aut increase to 800 during that time.

I then got an email that they were upgrading me to the MC. This was during a cycle when I carried a balance, PIF, then put a few more charges on it. That upgrade also came with another auto CLI to $2.5k I think my TU was aroumd 670 at the time..

Our scores are similar,I just dont use mine very often.In fact 3 times this past year.I know that if I accept the MC version they will report it as a new tradeline (which I dont want) However on the flip side if I use it more often they may auto increase me as well.My problem is I got this card thinking I would purchase school clothes for my daughter.I didnt realize at the time that their clothing is not what I want.They do not fit her well etc.I much prefer Gap and I LOVE BR.Wished I had that card instead lol.

They told you it was a HP?

My JCP store card started at $400, auto CLI to $700, I hit the LUV button probably every two weeks. About a month ago, got a CLI to $1200. I've never seen a HP from them since opening the card.

No luck with any M/C PCs from Synch yet, but we always hold out hope, don't we?

They did tell me it was a hp.Im really hoping to get a an increase if I convert it over to offset the ding fom them reporting a new tradeline.Im not sure if I want to even convert it over without it.Like I said though,I've already got the card,I can only moveforwrd and ideally that would mean to get the Mastercard
