Cap One fail

So I tried the "chat" option for requesting a line increase. (If I go through the normal process, I get generic denials...) I was HOPING that chatting with a person would be benificial....

"Austin" at Capital One Chat said, "We have given credit limit increase option online due that reason I can submit the request for you."

I asked him if someone who spoke English was available, and waited eight minutes with no response, then gave up.

I miss the EO...

Submitting through the agent won't make any difference anyway. It goes to the same computer decision process. The EO won't do manual CLIs anymore anyway, presumably because capital one is happy with whatever algorithm they've decided on.

Unfortunately online, the CLI link is the only option at this point.

Can't remember. Not since the transition, I know that. Three of my six cap one cards used to be Orchard / HSBC. None of them have seen a CLI since cap one took them over.

Method of request doesn't change your credit profile or income. If you want a CLI and you're not getting them then review your reports, idenitfy the issues and address them. Don't rely on quick fixes.

I think that some old cards or cards that originated from another company have ceilings in terms of CLI's with Cap One. Account combination might be a way to go with those accounts. DW had an old platinum Visa that never saw a CLI, so she combined it with her QS.

@I too, had an old Orchard bank card that became a Cap 1 Platinum - Pc'd to a QS that I could never get a CLI on, maxed out on CL @ $4200. Same thing with my Cap 1 Platinum that I got at the same time as the Orchard post BK. No matter what I did I couldn't get a CLI on it so I recently combined the 2 for a decent limit then apped for the QS Siggy so I would still have a cashback card with them.

Cap 1 has a unique platform I don't think any of us has been able to crack fully

My observations are: 1. Legacy cards and cards that were issued initially from another lender are shown no love by Cap One. 2. Sub-prime cards, even the QS MC, can grow only so much after which Cap One prefers that you move on to QS Visa and Venture cards. I think that some of the frustration seen on this forum is from folks who want their existing cards to be something that Cap One does not offer, coupled with their reluctance or inability to change their credit card line-up in keeping with Cap One's desire for folks to graduate to QS Visa and Venture cards. IMHO - the ability to combine accounts and not have it effect your real FICO scores is the way climb Cap One's credit card ladder.
