Nice. Usually when they decrease my APR it's a 1-3% reduction... only 0.5% this time makes me wonder if we've reached rock bottom.

I wonder what their criteria are for APR reductions anyway...

How long after intro apr wears off can you ask for reduction?

This makes me feel lazy... the only time I have asked for an APR reduction on anything is when trying to get a SP CLI on a Barclays card...

I don't quite understand this, Ooh wow... APR is only such and such. Deadbeats don't really get excited over this. Banks can raise the APR in a blink of an eye.

6%? That's like mortgage-level interest. I'd say not only are you rock bottom on interest, just about everyone here would love to see that APR (even if they PIF religiously)

well yes it is sort of mortgage level interest. but if anyone had a mortgage at 6% they might benefit from refinancing as I've seen rates as low as 2.825 with low or no closing costs. Id advocate they do that at a credit union, transition their checking to get 2% apy, and get a credit card opened using the same inquiries.

Back to the topic, what are the actual ranges for these cards? Because my delta gold at 8.49% I have been told my at least 6 reps that its the lowest it can go. Seems to me that the SPG, ED, EDP, BC, and BCP cards get the lowest rates.

I am hoping in september when my 0% ends that I can get the 15% reduced quite a bit by the end of the year. I feel like either 5.74 or 6.24 is the lowest I have seen on amex?

Thanks for this post, OP! I went ahead and chatted myself to see what they could do

BCE: temporary 10.49%, but only for new purchases for a year (current APR is 13.24%)

BS: Apparently already on a promotional APR, I forgot I accepted one via e-mail back in March for 9.99% until April 2nd of 2017. Current rate 17.49%

I'll likely wait until all the promotional rates are off my cards to request again. Not sure if next time I should ask specifically for a PERMANENT reduction in my APR, and not these temproary offers from just generically requesting "an APR reduction".
